Survival skills came in an unlikely fashion for Gamara.
It was the longest half an hour of his life, as an Indian cattle herder survived being mauled and pinned down by a lioness with a rather novel technique.
He treated the beast like a house cat and gave it a little affection.
Yes, you read it right.
The New York Post reported:
“Kalubhai Boghabhai Gamara was minding his own business in Gujarat on India’s west coast when the lion was suddenly upon him, badly mauling him and leaving him fearing for his life.
Horrified onlookers tried throwing rocks at the beast to get her away from the imperiled cattle herder, but to no avail.
After knocking him to the ground, she kept him pinned beneath her massive front legs, toying with him as horrified bystanders looked on, some of whom tried to help by lobbing rocks at the big cat, but the predator was undeterred.”

The lioness flashed her teeth at Gamara several times, until he tried stroking the lion’s fur, something that’s probably not in any survival manual.
But that apparently worked well, as the beast let go of Gamara and departed to a nearby forested area.
BBC reported:
“Kalubhai has been admitted to Sir Takhtasinhji General Hospital in Bhavnagar town, 60 km away, for treatment, according to villagers.
This is the second incident in Bhavnagar district in the last few days where lions have attacked humans. Earlier on June 18, the body of Nagjibhai Gujaria was found in a bush near his house in Gadda village of Mahuva taluka adjacent to Palitana taluka.
Nagjibhai’s family had claimed that Nagjibhai was killed in a lion attack.”

They are the best. They take care of each other, especially when we are out of the house.
They conk out on a couch, on the two large back pillows. Huge dents and a mat of hair on the pillows.
They try to get in about 22 1/2 hours of sleep a day.
Sometimes if you just rub a stubborn pussy a little, good things happen.
There's a whole lot of jokes/comments that can come from that statement.

Mine were sleeping on the back pillows of the couch too for a while (which got vacuumed vigorously each week) and now they’ve switched to the seat of an armchair.
They also like to nap in various spots on their cat tree. Gotta rest up for the next round of zoomies! 😄

They were about to be adopted to two different families! (OH NOES!)
So my wife said "Hey you can't separate these two guys! They survived together! I'll take both!" And the cat trafficker agreed, praise to the Almighty.
They have been with us 12 years and they are the best! They sleep next to each other and look out for themselves as a team.
Such wonderful boys!

Lucky guy, who doesn’t want to pet a lion?
It’s not very common(even though a possible death is mentioned in the story)for Asiatic lions to attack people. Unlike Tigers and leopards, lions in India rarely attack people, seeming much calmer around humans than other big cats.
