Seems to me SpaceX doesn’t have serious competition, and it’s not the government’s job to hold the hand of some wannabe when they don’t have the expertise that SpaceX does.
It’s our taxpayer’s money, so at least spend it on the one company who will fulfill the contact as written.
SpaceX has put something like 80% of the mass put into orbit in the last 5 years.
U.S. space capability would be dog meat but for SpaceX.

The Artemis program needs for Blue Origin to get back up & running, both for program requirements and for political concerns.
For the technical side, the Blue Origin lander is necessary and visually, you can think of it as a super-sized Apollo lander. Would also be suitable for a land & leave temporary Moon habitat and also to cannibalize it for useable parts & equipment for Moon structures.
