Sounds like he’s been told.
The penultimate paragraph: "Already, speculation is swirling that indicates that Farage is privately considering stepping down from his leadership role, signalling to rivals that his personal appetite for the frontline political grind is fading."
From the Daily Telegraph:
The opinion piece shared by Mr Trump said Mr Farage’s experience would “feel remarkably familiar to American conservatives – especially President Donald Trump”.
The article said: “Britain’s political establishment long comforted itself with the belief that Farage could be contained, marginalised, or simply waited out. Instead, he has become the dominant force in British politics. As Reform UK continues to lead national polling, the tactics deployed against him have begun to resemble those used against Trump during the run-up to the 2024 election.”
Political news coverage almost always operates under the guiding principle that the Perfect most always is and ought to be the enemy of the Good. Despite the obvious fact that a dog three-days dead would be a better PM than Starmer, people dig into Farage as if he were somehow loathsome.
Sounds ominous. Hope he’s OK.
At 2 PM local time.
Same time as Harry’s speech at Chatham House.
Same time as the ANL decision is released.
Farage, you profile in courage...
If not, he’s got an extra £5 mil to see him through it.
It must have been a really big check.
ANL
Associated Newspapers Limited (Daily Mail)
allegations of illegal/improper information gathering on Harry and others
There’s an allegation that the statute of limitations has run out the clock.
His woife got away with perjury.
Bet her handbag will, too.
Paraphrase:
‘For over twenty years i’ve been vilified by the press’
‘I am the most verbally and attacked public figure in modern times’
‘You only know a fraction of the times ive been assaulted’
‘Ive put up with ... mobs attacking me’
‘Over the last year it has got worse’
‘The Times took the decision to publish a picture of where my daughter lives’
‘I will not tolerate any of my family being endangered’
‘I have never been so angry’
‘The Labour party have come after our money... they’re changing the rules to stop Reform’
‘It’s like living in a Communist country’
‘We now have a PM who never stood at the election.... ‘
‘We need an election. We need change’
‘What happened to my daughter has made me think’
‘I have decided to resign as an MP for Clacton’
‘WE WILL HAVE A SEPCIAL ELECTION’
‘I will put my name forward and I will stand in this special election’
😲😲😲
He will fight:
Nigel Farage has announced that he will trigger a by-election by formally resigning as an MP, in an attempt to defy his political opponents amid an ongoing sleaze scandal.
The Reform UK leader announced that he was standing down in his Clacton constituency on Tuesday, and will now stand in the ensuing contest following damaging stories about financial support he has received.
Thing is, Clacton is one of the worst s-holes in Britain.
From the Telegraph live thread:
‘A people versus the establishment by-election’
Nigel Farage declared the Clacton by-election would be “a people versus the establishment by-election”.
The Reform UK leader said: “Now I’ve decided that the people of Clacton should be the judges of my actions.
“This will be a people versus the establishment by-election. It’s a chance to stick two fingers up to the entire establishment, to frankly tell them where to go. And that is why I will be putting my name forward in this by-election. I will fight to win, I will fight to continue the political revolution that Reform has started.
“And I would say this to you the voters of Clacton. If I win, you win. Because if I lose, they win, and we will never, with the two old parties, get the fundamental kind of change that we need to fix broken Britain.”
In what way? They did elect Farage las time, remember. So, not all bad, or?
Will Restore run a candidate and the left unite around one, tactical voting etc. that’s what the play will be
For anyone wanting an excellent analysis of the, wowza, 400+ page decision...
