England and Mexico played out one of the greatest games in World Cup history before a Pom ended up in hospital in bizarre circumstances.
Football fans have witnessed two of the best round of 16 matches they could have imagined on Monday.
First up a stunning result turned the World Cup on its head as Erling Haaland led Norway to a historic 2-1 triumph over Brazil.

It was a game that had it all, from goals to a send-off, bench melees and even a bizarre injury to England star Jordan Henderson following the celebrations.
Amidst all the delight of the England players and fans, midfielder Jordan Henderson suffered a nasty injury in bizarre fashion.
The substitute, who was yellow-carded despite not playing a minute, joined his teammates as they were serenaded by England fans singing Oasis once again after winning a World Cup classic against Mexico.
But as the celebrations died down and Henderson returned to the pitch, he tripped and fell over the advertising hoardings.
The former Liverpool captain appeared to land awkwardly on his wrist and he was whisked away on a stretcher before being taken to hospital.

Not all that different than the NFL teams where few of the players are actually from the city they represent and next year will be on another team........
When I first read the headline, I thought maybe it happened when all the players jump on someone who just scored a goal. I don’t understand that at all, especially the ones who come off the bench. Apparently they do not have a rule against excessive celebration of scores like we do in the NFL.

Maybe he can sue the company!...Oh, wait, this wasn’t in America!...................
It was a great game. Form the atmosphere, to the scoring, pace, goals, and red cards it was full of anxiety for any fan of the sport, especially for those of the two teams.
Baseball: wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, throw, wait, wait, wait, wait, throw/hit/caught/out, wait, wait, wait, ...
Football: play starts for a few seconds, stops, wait, wait, wait, wait, timeout, wait, wait,
Basketball: jog, jog, jog, jog, 3 point shot, jog, jog, jog 3 point shot....
Hockey: ...well, I have no issue with hockey :)
That said, I appreciate the chess match of American Football. I’m informed of the nuances of baseball. Basketball is huge. All sports have issues, as well as the nuances of understanding the game, soccer being no different. The fact that each player runs about 10Km, as wind sprints, per game is a stamina & fitness marvel - while being able to pass a ball 60m in the air, while running, to another player in-stride, that may volley the ball into a top corner of the goal is remarkable talent. It’s incredibly difficult.
It was a great game, probably the best of this tournament so far....but I agree, there’s many more that were better. I think part of that claim is just the teams involved and the home venue for Mexico, in a knockout round, expectations also high for England. Then came the pace, the goals, the red card, etc. - it was a great game.
I remember watching a USA vs Mexico match on TV played at the L.A. Coliseum in 1998. Seemingly the entire crowd was rooting for Mexico. Our national anthem was booed, and urine bags and batteries were tossed at our players.
Funny thing is, it’s the same if Scotland play England at Wembley, it’s overwhelmingly Scottish fans.
And Morocco.
3 bad minutes, ruined all the good work Mexico did in the tournament. That’s all it takes.
Brazil is a shadow of what it once was, just as with Germany.
Haaland is a beast.
It will be fun to see him play against the country he was born in.
The Red Card ruined it. England parked the bus the rest of the way.
And the penalty for Mexico was BS.

France and England I can understand. Blacks have lived in those countries for generations.
But Switzerland? Really?!?!?!?!
Hard to top Argentina-Cabo Verde.
Brazil has won 5 World Cup titles, more than any country on the planet.
And the Montreal Canadiens have 24 Stanley Cup titles, what have they done lately?
That was a great match.
Not the same thing.
Brazil remains the only team to have won in four different continents and the most successful in World Cup history overall.
You can’t compare Mexico to Brazil.
That’s Brazil then.
Past performance does not guarantee future results.
Brazil has consistently performed better than other countries at the World Cup, certainly better than England has.
It was a wrist injury. Why does he need a stretcher?
