President Donald Trump's plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz appears to be working, as transits show the strongest signs yet of returning to normal operations.
Commercial shipping is steadily increasing under the 60-day U.S.-Iran ceasefire, easing fears of prolonged global oil supply disruptions and driving crude prices lower.
New maritime data shows vessel traffic through the strategic waterway has more than quadrupled over the past week as shipping companies cautiously resume voyages through the Persian Gulf.
According to maritime intelligence platform Signal, the number of traceable daily voyages entering and leaving the Gulf increased from just one or two ships during most of the conflict to eight vessels by July 1, based on a seven-day moving average.

Congressional democrats would have NEVER “ bought in”…because of partisan politics. So what would be the point of debate? These democrats opposing Trump- everything can’t even define the biological reality of 2 human sexes.
You may have superior sources of intel to what Trump and the Senate were provided…..but our own negotiators closest to pre war Iranian authorities were told by Iran that they were weeks from reaching weapons grade enrichment for multiple warheads. If that was a bluff..it was unwise.
Trump and the Senate were convinced by multiple sources to a reasonably actionable certainty…that time was running out for preemption of the threat. And eliminating the Iran nuc weapon threat only after it was publicly emergent and undeniable….was a catastrophic military scenario. As was doing nothing and watching Israel trying to eliminate this existential threat on its own
Waiting longer was a choice this President was unwilling to make.
So boo hoo. Trump is doing what he has been saying needed to be done…for actually 40 years, he talked openly about not tolerating an Iran nuc state long before he ever entered politics. And certainly during his campaigns.
Yes that factored into a strategic decision to withhold a military offensive for 60 days …but also to a strategic political move to let Iranian internal political fractures develop and widen, to sort out the pragmatics from the fanatics, to offer Iran an opportunity to see what it could gain by cooperation with the international community instead of bluffing and threatening to control it….ie, give the pragmatics some space to make their move.
Don’t get me wrong…I don’t yet see any good guys emerging as Iranian leaders. The pragmatics we are signing MOUs with…are men with blood on their hands. They are still holding the population in thrall with the brutal coercive tools of the radicals…the internal security forces, the court system, even ideology where it suits their power.
This is the transformative battle yet to be fought, once an Iranian opposition movement coalesces into a single force and power, with a recognized new leadership. We can’t fight this one with bombs. Oh we can use military force conventional and UW, to defend our presence beside our Arab allies, and to clear “ debris” from resistance within Iran to enlightened reform …but this evil regime has to rot from within.
And China..eh?
I was well aware of that, although pipelines aren't exactly immune to missile or drone attack, but at least the property owner has more time to shoot them down than in the Strait.
We are talking about transients here. Yet consequences to a transient supply disruption can be permanent. If Europe tanks for the lack of supply, don't count on Trump doing well in the mid-terms. That has long-term implications, doesn't it? So cut with the handwave propositions.
I never said Trump chickened out...he miscalculated though and thought Iran would be another Venezuela. When he learned it wasn’t, he wanted to get out and get out quick. And yes Iran did win if the plan as we’ve been told is the actual plan.
Would have been better never to have done anything or at least wait until AFTER the midterms.
I heard that Loyds of London had the insurance contracts of all ships that passed through the Strait of Hormuz. Once they stopped insurance and Iran vowed violence, Trump got together with some very rich people here in America to create a new insurance company. Now we insure the boats passing through. This takes Billions out of the pocket of the EU every month. The EU oligarchy is about to fall. President Trump has war gamed everything including waiting for the Kurds to rise up on the edges of Iran. Freedom is at hand for the Iranian people. It just takes time. Everyone is trashing President Trump about the peace talks. It’s all strategic. Trump has this. Just be patient.
The longer you wait the more drones and missiles Iran produces.
The more drones and missiles Iran produces and stock piles, the harder it becomes to take out and confiscate Iran's enriched Uranium and the harder it becomes to stop Iran from controlling the Strait.
We may have already waited to long with our 47 years of appeasement.
Yay Trump! This is important because we need to know that the Iran war is not making the economy bad. After the first week of November, they can take out the top layers of Iran’s government again.
“Trump should have got more Congressional buy-in before starting it.”

exactly 47 years 8 months wouldn’t have been a death sentence.
Laugh all you want. I don’t like being this far down on ammunition.
More drones and missiles makes it more difficult to accomplish our goals.
“According to maritime intelligence platform Signal, the number of traceable daily voyages entering and leaving the Gulf increased from just one or two ships during most of the conflict to eight vessels by July 1”
LOL and the propaganda channel Newsmax thinks this is some kind of victory? 8 vessels a day is a joke.
Now imagine half our country is upset because Trumps plan is working.
Oh yku dont have to imagine, theyd rather have Iran winning.
Happy 4th.
LOL. Drones didn’t stop us nor could for what we did. But they still have drones we didn’t wipe them out. But we did wipe out their bigger navy and air force. But not their small attack boats.
Lloyd’s is primarily a re-insurer, and probably re-insured most of the insurance companies that insured the sbips.
The joke is you and the others not understanding this isn’t a primary story. This is, “oh - this happened, too.” There are still pitifully few ships going through AND oil prices are back to pre-war levels. Trump made Hormuz *unnecessary* internationally. If he gets it reopened the prices will go down dramatically further. And American producers are selling more than they ever had, and...
He’s such a loser.
Drones missiles and speedboats all attacked ships last week in the Strait and are still the reason why the Strait is about 66% still not open.
LOL, how "funny" is that, right?
“oil prices are back to pre-war levels”
Incorrect.
“OPEC’s oil production rebounded sharply in June as Gulf producers finally began bringing shut-in barrels back online after months of war-induced disruptions. But despite the impressive headline number, the cartel is still pumping nowhere near where it was before the Strait of Hormuz crisis turned Middle East oil flows upside down.”

I don’t know. In my town all the different gas stations are advertising regular at $3.39/gal. That’s not competition, thats collusion.
