Paramedics conducted CPR on an individual experiencing a “cardiac arrest” at a known address for Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., on the day his office disclosed he had been hospitalized, according to police scanner audio obtained by NBC News.

According to the audio, the first medic on the scene at the address began performing CPR, according to the dispatchers, and was then joined by an additional EMS team at the same address.

“His term ends in January and intends to serve until then....hope he makes it.” WHY?

Why I hoped he was OK ?

....loss of a key vote, but he’s probably not voting now anyway, and is not helping with SAVE...so maybe it’s past time to go. There are other votes, and quorums, and such....over these last 4 months.

A special election would not be possible...but, it doesn’t appear their D-Gov can name a D replacement.

Now that the news is out, we’ll learn the hows and what’s likely..maybe we’re OK if he can not continue.

“Now that the news is out...”

That’s just it.....the news is NOT out.

Other than he probably had a heart attack nobody knows his current status.

That is wrong and wrong in a lot of ways.

its outrageous that a sickly, 84-year-old man is a Senator.

From the Wikipedia article on the movie Advice and Consent:

"Appearing in two scenes as Senator John J. McCafferty—who, whenever awakened from a deep sleep, automatically responds "Opposed, sir! Opposed!"—was the 87-year-old Henry F. Ashurst, one of the first senators elected by Arizona, serving five terms. Ashurst died on May 31, 1962, about a month before the film's premiere."

I'd call it a "citizen's arrest".

Essentially, this failing loser has been living in the taxpayer funded nursing-home (congress) for decades on the taxpayer’s dime. Likely his “staff” has been voting for him and controlling his vote for at least the last couple decades. Similarly, his chinese wife whose family owns chinese shipping companies has similarly influenced his voting. What pathetic corruption.

One of the issues is that if Mc Connell were to leave office early, KY has a Democrat Governor who can appoint a replacement for the rest of his term at which time the winner of the November election would take over.

i wasn’t familiar with KY law which would require a Special Election rather than an appointment by the Gov.

Probably brain dead in a coma, but we just can’t let someone else be appointed, now can we?

The law was changed in the spring of 2024 over Governor Beshear’s objections (Ie. he vetoed it).

Replacement only by election.

Looking at the statute, it refers to both senators and US reps.

The relevant part is that the election has to happen in 63 days. This would certainly makes 63 days before January 3rd logically moot, Ie. anytime after about Novmenber 1, 2026.

Why they would hold a special election between now and November 1, make no sense to me. Since Congressman Andy Barr is likely to win, it would then open his seat.

The Kentucky law does not address how to handle being so close to election day of a senator or represenative.

“can’t let someone else be appointed, now can we?”

Nope....I knew he would cling on until the bitter end but even now that he is more than likely unconscious?

President Trump was right.....the swamp is deeper than he ever thought.
