I look at AI generated stuff like cartoons. That works for now, but it's obviously not the objective. Pretty soon it will be capable of generating anything with total believability, at which point it will have the power to inflect history among those lacking very sophisticated skepticism. There has to be a way to 'watermark' it and thus preclude manipulation. I have no idea if enforcing such a system is even possible.

The “Archie Bunker” effect.

It is simple, really. I don’t necessarily believe anything delivered by electronic media. I’m very jaded at this point in my life.

I don’t necessarily believe anything delivered by electronic media. You still have to deal with people who do. And they can hurt you.

Now you hit the nail right on the thumb. Well let's see who's dreaming.

You certainly responded to my post as if I had written it but did not validate it by independent means. I'd bet you believe that the person on the other end of a phone call is saying what you hear too. IOW, what you said about yourself isn't true; you are completely self-delusional.

I really like the comment about pamphlets in the Revolutionary War. That is spot-on!
I would have loved to have been in all the coffee houses in Boston in that era listening to all the foment and discontent...and malcontents.

Pamphlets were also a big part of the preparation for and acceleration of the French Revolution. They were a big part of ruining Marie Antoinette’s reputation. The pamphlets were also almost all lies.

The tavern where a lot of it took place in Philadelphia is still there, and so are the cobblestone streets and colonial marketplace in that old part of town. It's inspiring!
