Alyssa Thomas will serve her one-game suspension on Saturday when the Phoenix Mercury visit the Toronto Tempo.
The WNBA has suspended Phoenix’s Alyssa Thomas for one game after she made contact with her fist to Caitlin Clark’s throat in Wednesday night’s matchup against Indiana. It happened with 6:52 left in the second quarter and was deemed to be a non-basketball act. The league gave Thomas a Flagrant Foul 2 penalty for it. No foul was called on the play by officials.
The WNBA is allowed to review a game to reclassify a Flagrant foul or to classify as Flagrant any foul not called as such during a game.

“It was egregious. The fact that it was a no-call … You got to call it,” said Fever coach Stephanie White after the game. “You’re coming in here aware of what happened two nights ago and that (expletive) still happens? Absolutely unacceptable.” This isn’t the first time the league has upgraded a foul against Clark. Last season Marina Mabrey, when she was with Connecticut, received a technical foul in a game against Indiana. The league later upgraded it to a Flagrant 2. Over the years the NBA has had a few instances where the league upgraded a play that resulted in a suspension.

And the league doesn’t respond to the criticism from the fans….they do however react to it from the sponsors, which is probably why is happening.

Clark would be a superstar in Europe. She would make tons of money with endorsements there. She could still make endorsements over here with American or European companies. The wnba is not a long time viable attraction. Time to desert it.

Maybe Clark was promised a share in an NBA team. Maybe that why she’s hanging on.
Just qn aside; is Sophie Cunningham still her team-mate? Thought I saw her in a different uniform recently - just a video short. She sure is easy on the eyes.

I blame the fans who fork over all that money to go to games, etc. They need to boycott that stuff, they don’t know the power they have!!
Clark should press charges for assault. That’s what it was ,and it’s on tape. Maybe that is the kind of drastic moves it would take ,to stop this constant abuse by these racists, anti white cotton pickers. It might have an older video when she played for Phoenix. She was traded to the Fever in Jan 25..
If the puncher was white and the victim was black, that could very well have happened. But black vs. white? No big deal.
