Americans age 50 and older are getting divorced—with almost half of all broken marriages in recent years coming from aging Gen Xers and Baby Boomers.
Gray divorces doubled between 1990 and 2010, until they comprised about one in four of all divorces nationally...
And though divorce has been dropping in most age groups across America, it has not among people 50 years and older.
Michael Stutman, a top New York City divorce lawyer, thinks a “popular culture” shift around modern marriage expectations, coupled with staring down the barrel of mortality, could be playing a part.
“The thing about people who are over 50 is that they’re getting cognizant that the fuel gauge is starting to go down to empty,” Stutman told The Post.
“And there’s one thing money can’t buy, which is time.”

My wife and I (in our 50’s) have noticed how many couples we know are pretty unhappy with each other. It’s surprising how bad they’ve let their relationships get.
First determine which of the two sexes is filing for divorce in the overwhelming majority of cases, and you'll instantly recognize what the reasons for this rise in so-called "gray divorces" are.

I’m an almost 79 year old woman who has been happily divorced for 47 years. I raised my two sons alone. Stopped dating in the late 80’s because I enjoyed being alone, and had many things I wanted to do without having to deal with excess baggage.
I am going to have to remember that one. It’s quite good.

Yep, and in my case its great KNOWING that God put my wife and I together. It is a bond not to be broken til death do us part. We have been a team for almost 48 years. We think alike in so many ways.
My cousin lives in the villages. very pretty woman with a. handsome husband. I almost fell on the floor when, after staying there two nights, I was getting into my car to leave. Her very nice, polite husband gave me a friendly hug. wife shot him the evil eye and told me to never come back. this after a cordial, polite and happy two-day stay.
I got the message: Hub may be playing around. Possibly she is too.
frankly, my dears, I don’t give a flying fig.
They are often to perfectly nice men who are good husbands.
The reason given is “I'm not happy” which is more about them than their husband and there is social pressure and encouragement to get a divorce is strong especially from some unscrupulous. and self interest divorced lawyers
Most women with this mindset really regret their decision to get a divorce when they sign the papers
I read that at the Villages if a woman puts a pineapple on her porch it signals that she’s ready and willing.
I live in an over 55 and it isn’t like that at all. There are very few single men and none of the women are interested in the ones them.
........and their wives can hardly wait.
