Senate Democrat suggests it may be time to replace Schumer and Jeffries: ‘Let others lead’

Michigan Sen. Elissa Slotkin suggested Thursday that it may be time for House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to step aside for new Democratic leadership.

The Democratic Party hasn’t “fully recovered” since being “soundly defeated in 2024,” Slotkin, a Democrat , argued during an appearance on SiriusXM’s “Straight Shooter with Stephen A” – hinting that Schumer (D-NY) and Jeffries (D-NY) are to blame.

“To me, the lesson was simple. Democrats had too many priorities. They tried to make everyone happy and answer every question. When you prioritize everything, no one knows what you actually stand for,” Slotkin told Stephen A. Smith.

In contrast, “Donald Trump came in with one clear message. He said, ‘I’m going to make your life more affordable. I’m going to put more money in your pocket’. … He won because he kept his message simple and focused on the issue Americans cared most about.”

Slotkin lamented that even a year-and-a-half after Trump’s presidential election victory, “every day there’s a debate within the party about the path forward.”

“That’s why I believe we need significant new leadership,” she said. “The old models are no longer working, and that includes the Democratic Party.”

The senator likened her party to a “circular firing squad,” where “everyone is reacting to the crisis, but too few people are talking about what they actually want to accomplish.”

“To me, that’s a fundamental failure of leadership,” she urged.

too few people are talking about what they actually want to accomplish

We would be far better off if government stopped trying to “accomplish” things and simply got out of the way so that people could freely accomplish things.

Move further to the left, DEMs. Seems much of the country is willing to be led off the cliff without a parachute.

Maximilien François Marie Isidore de Robespierre (6 May 1758 – 28 July 1794) was a French lawyer and politician who emerged as a radical leader during the French Revolution, championing democratic ideals while wielding significant influence over the Republic’s repressive policies. Born in Arras to a family of modest legal means, Robespierre studied law and gained early prominence through essays defending the poor and criticizing absolutism, leading to his election as a deputy for the Third Estate to the Estates-General in 1789. In Paris, he aligned with the Jacobin Club, where his eloquent speeches opposed royal veto powers, war with Austria, and the Girondin faction, advocating instead for a republic grounded in virtue, equality, and the general will. Following the insurrection of 10 August 1792 and the trial of Louis XVI, Robespierre’s influence grew; elected to the National Convention, he supported the king’s execution and, after the purge of Girondins in June 1793, joined the Committee of Public Safety on 27 July 1793, rapidly becoming its de facto leader. Under his sway, the Committee centralized power to combat civil war and foreign invasion, enacting the Law of Suspects and accelerating trials by revolutionary tribunals, which precipitated the Reign of Terror from September 1793 to July 1794—a campaign of state-sanctioned violence resulting in at least 17,000 official executions by guillotine, alongside thousands more deaths in prisons and summary killings. Robespierre defended terror as an instrument of justice to eradicate vice and safeguard revolutionary virtue, instituting the Cult of the Supreme Being to replace dechristianized atheism, but his purges extended to former allies, fostering paranoia and factional backlash that culminated in his arrest and guillotining during the Thermidorian Reaction on 28 July 1794.

Now is a good time to stock up on modern sporting rifles, standard capacity magazines, and Geneva Convention approved ammunition.

You will need it when the Democrats start their second Civil War against the Union.
