Republicans on Capitol Hill are split over Vice President Vance’s rebuke of Israeli officials who criticized the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the U.S. and Iran, highlighting the broader debate on the right about foreign entanglements and the U.S.’s relationship with Israel.
The MOU establishes a 60-day window for peace talks — which Vance is helping lead — and pauses active hostilities, including by securing a ceasefire in Lebanon where Israel has been battling the Iranian-backed group Hezbollah. But the deal has drawn sharp criticism from some Israeli officials, including national security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who argued that Israel is not a party in the deal and is not constrained by its calls for a ceasefire.
Vance last week fired back by saying in a press briefing that if he were a member of the Israeli Cabinet, he “might not be attacking the only powerful ally” that the country has left anywhere “in the entire world.”
The remark quickly drew some GOP backlash. And the episode as a whole underscores the emerging foreign policy divide within the GOP that has pit Republicans who view steadfast support for Israel as a cornerstone of U.S. policy against a growing America First faction that is more willing to challenge allies publicly.

The US has a long and sorrowful history of abandoning allies.
At this point, because of the War Powers Resolution, all Trump can bring to the negotiating table are his three stooges.
As for the $300 billion, Congress isn’t going to give it, and neither will the Arabs.
Gasoline prices are stuck at the war level, at least where I live.
Yeah, I try to tell young’uns not to blow off math as the more math you know, the less people can trick you.
Too many seem to hate math though.
“I think Bibi needs to either go or get a good look at his one remains friend on this earth.”
I’m confident Israel intelligence has made it clear to Bibi that Democrats will take the Senate come 2027 and pander to Muslims.

Trump brought Kushner back into the White House when he should have been relegated to Mar Lago. The Abraham Accords were a good thing, but the lynch pin was Saudi and the fly in the ointment was Qatar. Neither issue was resolved before Trump left office. Go back and review what was said on this site about the Kushner’s and the problems the two NYC liberals caused Trump in his first term. To make matters worse Trump brought in Witkoff who has been made his top negotiator with no International diplomatic experience whatsoever. Witkoff went to Ukraine, no deal, Witkoff went to Gaza, on screwed up deal nobody follows, Witkoff is now the lead negotiator with Iran and we get a POS MOU. Iran is playing Vance, Witkoff and Kushner.
Trump has allowed Thune to stab him in the back repeatedly. Thune hates Trump and MAGA. Thune needs to go, but Trump supported him. If Thune remains the leader in the next Congress MAGA is screwed. It seemed a safe bet the GOP would lose the House but keep the Senate. The odds of that have dropped because Thune, Tillis, McConnell and Murkowski have pissed off conservatives who are not going to the polls. Snow votes against conservatives because she would never be reelected if she didn't. The rest just hate Trump and MAGA.
Before, the Iran debacle, Vance was already attacking Israel and American Jews who supported Israel. Not a smart move, especially after 7 Oct. Keep in mind proportionally, 7 Oct was the equivalent of 9-11. Vance called a prominent GOP female influencer in a Purple State a “scumbag.” This is a pattern with Vance, you disagree with him you are a scumbag, warmonger, or Israel First implying his critics are not true Americans. Not very Presidential. In the meantime Rubio looks like the adult in the room. Vance has lost a lot of Jewish support and reportedly is losing conservative Jewish big money donors. His response is to turn to TPUSA and the groypers for support. That is what is dividing the GOP and MAGA. Just like Thune, Vance is pushing conservatives to stay home in November. The Iran deal, lower gas and Wall Street surge is not going to offset any of this. Witkoff, Vance, Kushner and Thune will define Trumps second term if he does not get control of the situation. Frankly, Trump, calling people who do not like his Iran deal “uneducated “ was not smart. Especially name calling Senators who will have to vote to release funds and approve his treaty with Iran.
Send Witkoff and Kushner to the Ukraine, they can't make it any worse. Put Vance back in USA in charge of fraud. Get him a personality coach. Send Rubio and hardliner experienced Middle East negotiators to work on the Iran deal. Get off social media Trump's posts on Iran especially are aging like milk. Build a get the vote out initiative ready to hit the road after Labor Day when voters reengage. Go to Israel and mend fences Vance has torn down. You all think Bibi is on his way out, he may be, but at least two of the Likud replacements for him are as hardline or more hardline than Netanyahu.
Now you all can call me names which some of you will. You don't have to agree with me. But name calling is the refuge of fools.
The Hill.
Don’t you have anything from The Nation or Pravda?
Trump apparently believes he must declare victory and shove the war to the back burner at least until after the midterms. I won’t argue the politics of it. But long term, we don’t have a victory until we have an American contractor on the ground in Iran excavating and disposing of the uranium. And frankly, leaving IRGC in power in Tehran and Hamas in power in Gaza, and Hezbollah in power in Lebanon means there will be more war. For political reasons we may want to announce the war is over, but privately we should not kid ourselves.
The war is over. The REAL WAR is against the leftist vermin here.
I DON’T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT IT ANYMORE! IT IS S DISTRACTION! We have a REAL WAR against the vermin left here, a death struggle
What you say is true but the outcome is not.
The dice have been cast, but the outcome is uncertain.
Perhaps Divine Providence will pull it off once again.
We will see.
(The 13th Tribes in Exodus from Egypt, the Divine has protected us before many times, maybe once again.)
