Trump’s Iran 'Peace' Deal is a Shrewd Midterm Maneuver
American Thinker ^ | June 22, 2026 | Joseph Ford Cotto

Posted on 06/22/2026 6:01:05 AM PDT by Nateman

On June 17, President Donald J. Trump announced a framework agreement with Iran that extends a shaky ceasefire for another 60 days, lifts the U.S. naval blockade on Iranian ports and the Strait of Hormuz, and lets oil exports resume.

The deal entails Iran starting to dilute some highly enriched uranium stockpiles. It also features limited sanctions waivers from Uncle Sam. Bigger disputes like the full Iranian nuclear program’s fate and the Islamist theocracy’s ballistic missiles were pushed into that two-month negotiating window.

I’ll wait for the outcome, but hope it’s true.

The contentious Trump/Iran deal Iran entails:

<><>bigger disputes reside in a two-month “negotiating window.”
<><>the full Iranian nuclear program’s fate is in abeyance
<><>along w/ the Islamist theocracy’s ballistic missiles issue.

The deal Trump got is a Shiite sandwich. And I’m not biting.

It doesn’t really matter if the Democrats take the House.

In theory, Republicans in Congress can pass all needed legislation and Trump can sign it into law, where it would remain until 2029 at least.

The fact is that if $1 or $2 more per workday for gasoline matters to you, you have far bigger problems than the price of gasoline.

“The deal entails Iran starting to dilute some highly enriched uranium stockpiles.”

And why don’t you want to let another country do that, Mr. Iranian?

So we can cheat!

I guess I will be a glooms and doomer.

But first I must agree the peace deal does sound great.

But we need to look at history. Nixon’s Paris Peace Accords sounded great, but when the rats kicked Nixon out of office they let the communists take over the South. Trump’s first term wanted the Afghan War to end. It sure sounded great. But when the rats took full control it was a disaster.

Now let’s look at Iran. Will they honor the agreement? Doubtful. If the rats take over after Trump will they let Iran go back to building a nuke and being a world terrorist organization? Of course.

Hell, Trump could get a deal where all the Iranians convert to Christianity and pay tankers to travel through the Straight. But once the rats take over it all goes away.

The best case scenario is to get something that halfway works just long enough to get through the midterms.

What’s probably funny is a good deal of people complaining drive virtue signaling electric cars anyway.

$70, $80, or $90 to fill my truck makes no difference to me. If I want to go somewhere I buy it. I don’t waste money on betting sites, $20 coffee bars, sporting events, stupid looking clothes, a new tat, over-priced hamburgers, and the latest cool video game.

“The president is ending a fifty year forever war that served Deep States all over the globe.”

The deal doesn’t require Iran to limit missile size (and range).

The deal doesn’t require Iran to stop the transfer of weapons US civilians can’t legally buy to non-state actors.

The war will not be ending because Islam seeks worldwide domination. At most, Trump will secure peace only until he leaves office.

Food prices and fuel prices are tied together. Especially diesel fuel.

It could be even more than stopping Iran from having nukes. The people were revolting against Islam itself . The regime admits hundreds of Mosques were burnt down. For the true followers of their insanely evil prophet that justified murdering thousands of the dissenters of 'The True Will Of Allah!'.

You can't reason with fanatic believers like this. The only way to change their minds is to put bullets into it. Unfortunately, for the Iranian people it is the regime that has all the bullets.

If enough of these dead enders end up dead Iran could have a successful revolution which spreads to other countries infected with the Islamic Mind Virus

“to get something that halfway works just long enough to get through the midterms.”

I proposed that the $166 billion in tariff refunds be subjected to a 100% windfall profits tax and about $600 be given to each insured driver for Gas Help.

That money had to be sent out of the Treasury. About $600 could have been sent to you.

This implies the existence of a Free Republic Sunshine Pumpers Brigade, who slavishly falls for every piece of spin and agitprop that comes along.

Torching Mosques in Iran, but they keep building new ones in various parts of our country, sadly to include Texas. Western civilization has a death wish.

Relax. God is still in control. He did not save Trump's life for nothing. Surviving that assassination attempt by a miracle gives Trump Divine Credibility in the Islamic World. He can and will get things done like no other President could.

Government handing out money. That sounds like something a Democrat would say. Are you sure you are in the right place? Perhaps Democrat Underground might be more to your liking.
