Trump Claims He Got ‘Unconditional Surrender’ From Iran

President Donald Trump told Marc Caputo of Axios on Thursday that the U.S. had bombarded Iran into “unconditional surrender.” His remarks came a day after he signed a memo of understanding meant to end the current war.

Pundits and politicians from across the political spectrum have panned the deal as being too lenient on Iran. Some of the loudest criticisms have come from the right.

Fox News host Mark Levin called it “unthinkable,” while his Fox colleague Trey Gowdy said the deal will make Iran “richer.” Meanwhile, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said Trump is getting “very poor advice.”

The arrangement, which could ultimately end the war, contains 14 provisions, which require Iran to allow ships to travel freely through the Strait of Hormuz, the U.S. to cease its naval blockade of the country, and Iran to have access to at least $300 billion in financing.

In the interview, Caputo asked Trump what he had learned about presidential power:

CAPUTO: What have you learned about, not just the exercise of power, but the limits on your power as a result of the conflict?

TRUMP: There are no limits.

CAPUTO: No limits?

TRUMP: No, none. I haven’t learned that lesson yet. I know there are. But you know, there are no limits. We defeated them totally militarily.

[…]

CAPUTO: At the beginning of the conflict, you had talked about, you only wanted unconditional surrender. And–

TRUMP: Well–

CAPUTO: The [memorandum of understanding] doesn’t look like unconditional surrender.

TRUMP: Well, it really probably is unconditional surrender.

CAPUTO: It is?

TRUMP: I think so.

Unconditional surrender is when one or more parties in a war surrender without receiving anything in exchange and fully submit to the other side.

On Thursday, Vice President JD Vance, who helped negotiate the deal, offered a stinging rebuke to the agreement’s critics, particularly those in the Israeli government, which launched the war with the U.S. in February.

“Donald J. Trump is the only head of state in the entire world who is sympathetic to the nation of Israel at this moment in time, Vance said. “And he happens to be the head of state of the world superpower. If I was in the cabinet of the Israeli government, I might not be attacking the only powerful ally that I have anywhere left in the entire world.”

Let’s say we killed Hitler and then invaded Normandy.

And at that point the new fuhrer, Borman, or Goering of Himmler, agreed to negotiate with us, and then we paid the Nazis billions, would that count as a win?

And, if yes, would that constitute unconditional surrender?

The former Islamofacist Tyranny of "Iran" shoud be:
  1. Emasculated (No weapons)
  2. Eviscerated (No oil)
  3. Hung (Made a spectacle and example)
  4. Drawn and quartered (partitioned into smaller countries)
  5. Beheaded (Anything that looks like a Ayatollah, Mullah, Imam, a Burrito Supreme or a 12th Mahdi, should be hunted down, tried for crimes against humanity and hung by the neck until dead)

And we should take ownership of Kharg, Qeshem, Hormuz and any other islands that suit us.

“”Tell us what is fake about an interview with President Trump.””

***

So, what did Trump say ‘after’ he said “I think so”? Why did CNN cut it off at that point? I’m betting that Trump went on to clarify what he was saying and CNN didn’t want ‘that’ part of the interview included.... lying sacks of prevaricating excrement that they are. Typical leftist “taken out of context” and “selective reporting” tactics.

> The bigger problem is the Fact that Repukes in Congress do nothing and stand for nothing. <

On that I most certainly agree. It really is (potentially) a golden time. The GOP has both Houses of Congress and the White House.

Trump is willing to make the bold moves needed to fix this country. Congress is not. So another great opportunity will slip away.
🙁

Support for the MOU is coming overwhelmingly from those like Paul who never supported the war in the first place.

Either invoke the 25th amendment or impeach Trump. He is delusional and has been for a while. His wanting to wipeout an entire civilization in April should have done it. The sad thing is that he has a group of supporters that defend this statement.

“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” - April 7, 2026.

He has done a poor job.

What happened to the old Trump?

His wanting to wipeout an entire civilization in April should have done it.

If he truly wanted to do it, he would have done it. He didn't. So what you're really saying is that him making a mere threat that he had no intention of carrying out justifies impeachment. And that's ridiculous.

While this is true — it wasn’t really part of any treaties. We basically made backchannel assurances through the Swiss that we wouldn’t go after the emperor.

As much as this was to avoid the blood of Operation Downfall — another reason besides the important one (saving several million lives) was that it allowed us to keep Stalin and the soviets out of Japan.

Nobody knew the intention.

Going by your logic, if someone threatened to kill you personally then you would do nothing.

I would take a threat to me seriously, but you apparently don’t take threats to you seriously. Nice to know.

You don’t joke about threatening to kill someone. Especially if you are the President of the United States.

An unconditional surrender is a surrender in which no guarantees, reassurances, or promises (i.e., conditions) are given to the surrendering party.

Do you just forget that we were in combat with them already?? And it wasn't a joke. It was a threat he made to get them to comply with our demands, which is hardly uncommon.

I can't believe anyone would get their panties in a twist over threats made against "Death to the Great Satan/Burn in the Lake of Fire" Iran, which has been steadily killing Americans for decades now.

My original comment already explained what’s fake. The outrage. They just want a bone to bite. Last week he doesn’t care about inflation, this week he’s such a coward and he caved because of inflation concerns. The media is all fake.

To your other point:
Yes, the voting public largely doesn’t care. If Iran got a nuke tomorrow but gas was 1.87 most people wouldn’t even register it but would be super happy about the gas prices. IT’s just a fact. Say what you want about Iran, Russia, Ukraine but they have all withstood so many casualties and are still able to pursue and objective. The military has performed SO well and all you here from congress is cut and run, we lost 13. Blah blah blah.

It was reported that $300 billion is supposed to come from the Gulf States. So, how much from each one? The Gulf States are not even signatories to the document, so why would one think they will follow through if they don't want to. The $300 billion sounds like a face-saving commitment for the Iranians which will vanish like vapor.
