The United States on Wednesday released the official text of the memorandum of understanding reached over the weekend with Iran.
A senior US administration official read out the 14-point document, which spells out provisions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, easing certain financial restrictions on Iran and sets out expectations for addressing Iran’s nuclear program during future technical talks.
Titled the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the document was released after outcry that its text hadn’t been released publicly.
“This is fundamentally an agreement that allows us to open the Strait of Hormuz immediately, commit the Iranians to destroying the nuclear dust, and then gives us a dial where if the Iranians dial up their good behavior, we respond by dialing up the kind of economic and sanctions relief that can make them a more prosperous country,” the senior US official said.
The memorandum is due to be formally signed Friday, triggering a 60-day-window to negotiate the final terms of a deal. CNN had earlier reported on a draft agreement laying out the terms. The official text released by the US is similar, but with some language differences, and it refers to a “minimum methodology” for neutralizing Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium, which the draft did not.
Below is the official text in full:
The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran have jointly agreed in good faith on [ __ date] on the following:

Guess what: it's exactly what was leaked.

Already debunked this morning. And this has been posted already. I quote the White House spokesman the first time this was posted who said, “this is NOT the official text of the MOU.”
Now - I would be surprised if this language isn’t pretty close - but this is NOT the actual MOU - unless the White House spokesman lied. And, no, I’m not tracking the statement down for you because this is the second time this article has been posted today and I already did it.
Tired of fixing heresay around here.
WHAT was debunked?
How does the OFFICIAL State Department release vary from the draft that’s been widely circulated for 48 hours?
This is surrender. The US won the battle, lost the war. Trump admitted as much saying we were running out of reserves and indefinite closure of Hormuz would crash the markets. So... the mullahs achieved via economic pressure/warfare what they couldn’t win on the battlefield. They were able to get their enemy to agree to terms giving themselves everything they wanted in exchange for empty promises.
The final humiliation will be in a week or so when the Iranians have their victory parade in Tehran.
They firmly said it would not be available until Friday.
Friday On My Mind
by the Easybeats (1966)
Monday mornin’ feels so bad
Ev’rybody seems to nag me
Comin’ Tuesday I feel better
Even my old man looks good
Wednesday just don’t go
Thursday goes too slow
I’ve got Friday on my mind.
It gets worse.
Here’s what President Trump commented during a press conference today. He was asked about Iran’s missiles.
“I mean, they have to have some, because other people have some. You got to have some.
“I like some of these guys, but I … don’t think they’re smart. ‘Sir, you shouldn’t let them have any missile,’” the president said of unnamed advisers. “I said, ‘well, what am I going to do? Am I going to let Saudi Arabia have missiles, but they can’t have them?’ ‘Yes, sir.’
“Doesn’t work that way, you know, it doesn’t work that way, and missiles aren’t the problem. Missiles, they hurt a little location, but they don’t blow up the planet.”
MISSILES. THEY HURT A LITTLE BUT THEY DON’T BLOW UP THE PLANET. Dear Lord.
A complete and utter national humiliation.
<< “Missiles, they hurt a little location, but they don’t blow up the planet.” - Trump >>
1) Unless the missiles in question are ICBMs loaded with nuclear warheads.
2) MRBMs (which Iran already has an abundance) with nuke warheads can blow up a particular “little location” that the jihadi maniacs in Iran have long been dedicated to blowing up.
SMH
You did say official state department release two days ago, right?
Trivial to give me the link - right?
Makes bullshit up and says it’s true.
SMH.
That was a Trump quote from today’s press conference.
I was talking about points 1) and 2) - which aren’t going to happen because we’re taking the enriched uranium.
But I’m going to say I screwed up - I thought this was the same CNN article from earlier - and it’s not - they updated it. So assuming CNN typed it out correctly, and assuming it was read correctly - this apparently finally IS the actual text.
Miami Rebel - I got ahead of my skis - you were right - this happened while I was out running errands and I missed the update.
A quote you are twisting from his meaning of conventional missile weaponry for Iran’s national defense. “Unless...Nuke warheads”...stop spreading FUD based on hyperbolic lies about what the Iranians are incapable of doing.
Not sure what people want Trump to do. You simply cannot defeat Iran without committing massive resources and a huge conflict that will push crude prices towards $200 a barrel. Trump is concerned about the midterms more than anything else. After that, who knows what he’ll do. If you’re honest, you’ll give a lot of credit to the Iranian generals who brilliantly widened the conflict to the entire Gulf and strait of Hormuz. They outflanked the Pentagon, which clearly thought this was going to be a replay of the August 2025 conflict.
I can understand why State is delaying putting it in print. They revealed the terms in a call to multiple reporters this afternoon.
It is on the FOX site, CNN, the Wall Street Journal, the BBC, the Washington Examiner. And it on FOX News television right now.
<< which aren’t going to happen because we’re taking the enriched uranium. >>
Or so we hope
And this will be verified by....inspectors?
“You simply cannot defeat Iran without committing massive resources and a huge conflict that will push crude prices towards $200 a barrel.”
The price of oil is unlikely to go above the peak of the last three months.
Israel, using proven Ukrainian methods, can take out Iran’s oil industry and nitric acid plants. Iran would have to sell art, antiques and overseas mansions to pay for fertilizer imports.
Ukraine uses drones. The operators wouldn’t have to leave their air-conditioned rooms in Israel.
