It’s been nearly eight months since the Las Vegas Aces were crowned WNBA champions for the third time in four seasons. They still have not received an invitation to the White House, a team spokesperson confirmed to The Athletic.
President Donald J. Trump has yet to host a WNBA or NBA championship team during his terms, and this will be the first time the Aces have not made a White House visit after winning a title. USA Today was first to report the news.
The Athletic reached out to the White House for comment on whether the Trump administration will extend a delayed invite to the Aces, and will update this story if it responds. The Athletic also asked whether the New York Knicks or San Antonio Spurs would be invited after the NBA Finals. The Aces declined to comment when asked whether they’d accept an invitation if one were extended.
Former Vice President Kamala Harris hosted the Aces at the White House almost a year after they beat the Connecticut Sun in the 2022 WNBA Finals; President Joe Biden was on vacation. Biden had hosted the Aces in May 2024 to celebrate their 2023 WNBA championship.
Multiple athletes throughout the years have declined to attend honorary visits to the White House, but the tradition has become more contentious under Trump. He has famously revoked invitations or publicly told players, including Stephen Curry, they aren’t invited. Other teams have stated they would not accept an invitation.
In 2025, the New York Liberty did not receive an invitation from the Trump administration, according to a report from the New York Post. Team ownership instead arranged a dinner with former President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama.

Who cares??
Nobody watches the WNBA. Not even the women who promote it loudest watch it, so why are they making something out of nothing? Camel-Toe and Sleepy Joe did, so what?
Not that they’d accept. Trump isn’t going to play their game.
“The Athletic” is owned by the NYT, so it IS there story and lends no additional credibility to it. So what the N.Y. Slimes are doing is to try to stir the pot against the current W.H. Just another stupid article posting.
They’re just pissed that they can’t snub the President. They want an invitation so they can make a negative speech and then decline.... Pretty soon, they will chase out Caitlyn Clark and the WNBA will be banished back to last choice between that and reruns of Leave It to Beaver and The Partridge Family.
So...?
I'm not sure that is a desirable connection...
It’s the Caitlin Clark effect.
IIRC—_TRUMP HAS BEEN A LITTLE BUSY
Why would he when they will only use the invite to loudly refuse to appear? Seriously, why the F open a can of Communist ant-American publicity and hate?
We had a trivia contest at work. Trump didn’t invite the winning team of that, either.
Like they would accept anyway.
They just want to be invited so they can make a big public display of turning it down. Let them go hang out with Barry and Mike again.
It should be up to Nevada’s Congressional delegation to arrange an invite.
When the Penguins won the Stanley Cup (1990), Congressman Rick Santorum contacted Bush 41 about an invite.
Any Democrats?
Completely agree.
Senators Rosen and Masto both Democrats.
Representatives:
Alice Costandina “Dina” Titus, D, Las Vegas
Mark Eugene Amodei, R, Carson City
Susan Kelley “Susie” Lee, D, Las Vegas
Steven Alexzander Horsford, D, North Las Vegas.
You may know that Carson City is in the northern part of the state, so yes a Democrat should arrange the invitation.
They can get dinner with Obama, I believe that he has a house in DC?
