Michael Goodwin: Leaked and classified Situation Room talks demands a criminal probe from ‘furious’ Trump
NY Post ^ | 6/16/26 | Michael Goodwin

What took them so long?

Reports are surfacing that White House aides are suddenly alarmed over the likelihood that top secret conversations on national security were taped and leaked to the New York Times.

Axios quotes an administration source as saying that, “We’re afraid some of our most sensitive conversations were being recorded, and we have no idea which ones.”

The outlet also writes that, “We hear President Trump is furious about the blow-by-blow accounts.”

The president has every right to be furious, but he shouldn’t stop there.

Situation Room meetings are classified, and the mere possibility that details of conversations, including those about the goals and strategy of the Iran war, were leaked demands a criminal probe.

Yet so far, there’s not been a peep from the Department of Justice, despite that Pam Bondi, then the attorney general, and Kash Patel, the head of the FBI, were on speakerphone for one of the secret meetings, according to New York Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan.

Play-by-playback The minimal and belated White House anger appears to be driven by the fact that their book is slated for publication next week.

Titled “Regime Change,” it promises to go “Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump.”

Published by Simon & Schuster, it is advertised on the same Amazon page as three other anti-Trump screeds.

Best to assume everything will be made public and plan accordingly.

Criminal probe? Everyone who was involved should be hung in the White House lawn under the same conditions as the UFC fight. I will pay big bucks for tickets and it should be televised Nation wide.

Brings back to memory the resolute desk was bugged when Trump was sworn in for his second term. Nothing more was ever mentioned about it. No charges or prosecutions... Trump it’s in charge of the same agency that bugged him prior. It’s like the agency is all James Bond like prior to Trump being in office with clandestine espionage, but once he’s in office they’re the keystone cops. Why the change?

Shockingly, Trump allowed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and officials from Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency to participate in closed-door meetings in the super-sensitive “White House Situation Room”......a secure, highly classified complex usually off-limits to foreigners.

The highly publicized Situation Room sessions were held to “share intelligence” and allowed Israel to pitch bombing campaigns in the Middle East. According to a detailed New York Times report, the turning point for war came on February 11.

Foreign nationals are generally not allowed inside the sacrosanct White House Situation Room. Access to the secure, highly classified complex is strictly limited to authorized US government officials, military personnel, and intelligence staff who hold top-level security clearances.

U.S. intelligence agencies and government reports confirm that Israel has a history of aggressive espionage operations directed at the United States.

According to more recent intelligence assessments, Israeli espionage is officially evaluated at a “critical” level. The Pentagon’s Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) elevated the counterintelligence threat designation for Israel to its highest possible tier.

The threat level was raised due to intensified Israeli efforts to surveil top US officials and intercept top secret communications. US officials have expressed alarm over Israeli attempts to uncover internal deliberations and negotiating strategies regarding the conflict in Iran.

Over the decades, both the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly have passed resolutions criticizing, condemning, or demanding changes in Israeli policies, many of which remain unfulfilled. Israel has notably repeatedly breached or failed to comply with numerous United Nations resolutions.

UN Security Council resolutions are legally binding under international law. The U.S. generally complies with them, but it also uses its permanent veto power to block or force amendments to resolutions it disagrees with (such as those regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict).

Israel primarily gathers intelligence on the United States through political and military espionage, human intelligence networks, and advanced cyber-surveillance.

While billions in tax dollar aid to Israel is conditioned on intelligence sharing, Israel failed to warn the US about 911 in which 3500 Americans died. 911 was plotted in Israel’s backyard with the all-knowing Mossad taking notes, no doubt.

Israeli agencies are known for aggressive counterintelligence efforts focused on U.S. policymakers, defense contractors, and diplomatic negotiations.

Israeli intelligence units or commercial spyware firms operate highly sophisticated tools capable of compromising both iOS and Android devices.

Intelligence reports have highlighted instances where spyware, such as the NSO Group’s Pegasus, was reportedly used to monitor high-ranking U.S. officials and negotiators.

US intelligence officials have raised serious alarms about Israeli intelligence attempting to intercept communications of American diplomats, particularly regarding sensitive topics like negotiations with Iran.

This has included utilizing signal intelligence and placing listening devices in secure US areas or US government vehicles.

Israel seeks access to cutting-edge US defense technology and proprietary data and has involved attempts to secure US classified documents on missile telemetry, avionics, and aerial surveillance equipment from US contractors.

Sounds like a lot of political theater here. I would assume Trump himself was the source of any “leaks” to the NYT that end up in a Maggie Haberman article or book.

How do you have a criminal probe over unauthorized disclosure of allegedly “top secret” information when you had foreign nationals involved in those Situation Room meetings?

Israel has notably repeatedly breached or failed to comply with numerous United Nations resolutions.

Are you saying that sovereign nations should comply with all UN resolutions, Liz? Do you think such resolutions should be enforced?? By whom pray tell???

Nobody of any intelligence should support any form of an unaccountable bureaucratic global government. As much as I admire your diligence and research, Liz, I'm going to bookmark your answer as indication of your more-considered premises.
