Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier is speaking on Tuesday about alleged religious discrimination in professional sports, this time directing his attention toward Major League Baseball following reports involving San Francisco Giants pitchers.
In a post on X, Uthmeier questioned the league directly, writing:
"Do you practice religious discrimination in Florida, @MLB? You’ll be hearing from my office soon.”
The remark came after Sports Illustrated reported that three Giants pitchers were warned by MLB after wearing Bible verses on their caps during a recent Pride Night game.
The warning, while not fully detailed by the league, has sparked a broader debate about how professional sports organizations balance inclusivity initiatives with players’ individual expressions of faith. Pride Night events across MLB are designed to celebrate LGBTQ+ communities, but tensions have occasionally arisen when players express differing personal or religious views.
Uthmeier’s response signals the possibility of further scrutiny from his office, continuing a pattern of legal challenges and inquiries into major sports leagues operating in Florida.

DeSantis needs to speak to his Atty. General about professional priorities. This matter does not need to be whipped up into a huge, expensive showdown. Dissent is still permitted in most situations. This is not even profane.
It’s baseball keep religion and gay out of it
“Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier”. Let’s play ball James.
www.merriam-webster.com disagrees.
profane
adjective
1: not concerned with religion or religious purposes
2: not holy because unconsecrated, impure, or defiled
3: serving to debase or defile what is holy
GOOD! ping.
Umm. The issue is that MLB is going to fine players for not supporting LGBT. And penalizing them for their beliefs.
Florida is accusing MLB of religious persecution for fining players for not following the woke policies. And being Christian.
I am dying to see outfielders wearing man-jammies and scarves! Baseball cheerleaders in burqa.
Hey! If you ain’t into some other chumps rump, you shouldn’t have to wear rainbow 💩. IMO
I see, so I had roles reversed. Thank you for making it more clear.
Rhetorical question. What if a bunch of members of a certain religion of peace rolled out a giant prayer rug covering the outfield at Yankee Stadium and kneeled down facing Mecca with their asses in the air? Or if some wiccans were to dance naked around a fire they set on the pitcher’s mount at Wrigley Field? Betchya the MLB would not only allow it but “request” their employees to participate.🤬🤬
MLB has rules about standardized uniforms.
This is not about “bible verses”,
it is about personalizing uniforms.
Major League baseball is already forcing a religion on its players.
With major league sports it’s about the money. It has nothing to do with the fans. Sponsors and gambling is all that counts. NASCAR is trying to stay away but they can’t help them selves sometimes. MLB,NFL, NBA. Eff the fans let’s get them dollars. ISWIS
I wasn’t being sarcastic. Are you?
I used to love MLB. Took my kids to many games. Braves, Orieles, and even Rockies.
MLB lost me when they went all gay. Same thing with NASCAR and other sports.
Now they punish players who don’t tow the line for fags. I choose not to watch or support.
Not watching don’t mean💩to them. You are not where their money is coming from.Remember Eff Joe Biden was NASCAR. The players are following orders or in some (not enough, IMO) cases pushing back. Seriously though, the big money running these sports DGAF.
“”religious discrimination””????
DeSantis needs to educate his AG about what is and what is not religion...Is the AG really that ignorant?
Oh oh.
All those Latino players making the Sign of the Cross every at bat are now in trouble.
Yeah. Then they point at the sky. WTF /s
“ it’s about personalizing uniforms.”
Are you kidding?
There is nothing uniform about MLB uniforms these days.
Some players have their pants over their shoes, others above their knees.
Some have jerseys under their shirts with different colors on each arm.
Some have gold necklaces the size of tire chains.
Some wear their shirts unbuttoned at the top, others don’t.
Shoes can be any color.
Now there are advertisers on the sleeves of every uniform, plus that stupid Nike slash.
Then there’s those special caps and shoes for Mothers Day, Pride Day, two different cancer days, no. 42 day, Fathers Day, Military camo day, etc., etc.
Uniforms are anything but uniform.
Suppose you explain what a religion is. How it’s established and who does the establishing what do think?
