Former president Mary McAleese has criticized the use of the Irish flag to intimidate and compared it with the experiences of some Irish people who emigrated to the US and the UK.
Mrs. McAleese was interviewed by human rights lawyer Caoilfhionn Gallagher KC at an event at Trinity College Dublin marking fifty years of the Irish Council for Civil Liberties (ICCL).
She was asked about incidents of racism in Ireland, and said that while Ireland was “fortunate” with its political leadership, racism was being “promoted by people in serious leadership positions” in the world. […]
Mrs. McAleese compared people who use the Irish flag to intimidate and say “Ireland for the Irish”, to the “no Irish need apply” signs in the UK and the US.
“Do they know nothing about our history as immigrants? Do they know nothing about the impact of immigration-based racism on our people, have they no conscious about that? I never thought I’d live to see that day in Ireland where the Irish flag would be used by people like that, but it is all the more reason to say you will not colonize our thinking, you will not colonize our flag,” she said. …

These people are so full of themselves. How about addressing the downside to mass immigration for a change? How about acknowledging that Ireland should remain Irish, & immigrants need to want to BE Irish to live there?

Mrs. McAleese has been taken off the shelf and dusted off. A gathering of shi^house rats is all she needs to run her myopic mouth off for a headline. No mention of the history of Ireland that will never belong to those forcing their way in to take a path that’s wrecking the country to delight people like Soros and UN parasites.

Ireland was “colonized” by several groups. The (presumably) original Tuatha De Danann were “colonized” by the Celts; afterwards, the Vikings did their on again/off again “colonizations”. English rule was established by papal decree when Henry II gave aid to the king of Leinster in the form of Norman incursions. History was subsequently shaped by the Protestant breakaway and the sectarian clashes that followed.
My God, Lady. Do you know your own history? A lot of Irish spent centuries trying to drive the English from Ireland so that Ireland could be for the Irish. Now you want to open the borders to let anyone in. If they go kill Irish to turn Ireland into a caliphate, so be it.
The Irish Republican Brotherhood was not “mainstream” until 1916, when the executions of the leaders of the Rising made them able to turn public opinion away from home rule (the prevailing desire for centuries, in fact). Michael Collins achieved home rule, in reality; but the faction of Eamon de Valera caused a civil war that led to effective independence, although that lasted a mere 28 years when the same de Valera worked to have Ireland join the European Union (then known as the European Coal and Steel Community, European Economic Community and European Atomic Energy Community collectively).
So all that was achieved was a brief spate of independence from an empire that they actually had a real vote in, to submitting to an empire that they have absolutely no vote in.
