Obama fails to pay the help

After building an ugly, overprice, monstrosity marring the design of a famous Chicago park, anybody surprised to learn that the Obama Presidential Center has failed to pay the help?

Multiple little-guy contractors have told Fox News that they've been stiffed on the payments for their goods and services. (snip)

Salaries and benefits soared from $18.5 million in 2018 to $43.7 million in 2024, as staffing expanded to 337 employees and annual revenue reached nearly $210 million.

But the little guy who smooths the cement or does the gardening or catering or windows and floors gets nothing, and as the video report notes, some of these small businesses are going bankrupt for not getting paid.

And the Obama center says nothing, effectively rendering these black contractors' delivered work slavery, work for nothing. Work for 'the honor' of paying obeisance to The Won.

Something about that is just so ... Democrat. Democrats expect others to do things for them for free, and like doing it. They have a special contempt for the little guy; the guys Obama has oleaginously praised with his forked tongue, with 'work hard,' and all that.

Somehow, he can't be bothered to pay the help, unless a media spotlight is on them, and even then, not necessarily so. They just don't value the work these people have done, nor do they value the work America has done. They pay themselves first and let the rest of the contributors twist in the wind.

Should have asked for at least 1/3 of the $$ upfront, as my contractor does. 1/3 half way through and the rest when the job is completed.

Leviticus 19:13 tells us to pay your workers at the end of the current day. Do not make them wait until the next day. Sensible guidance there.

And now a quick story from a friend of mine. I’ll call him Bob. Bob had just finished working on a lady’s house, and stood there waiting for his payment.

Lady: Come back next week. I’ll pay you then.
Bob: What’s for breakfast tomorrow morning?

Lady: Huh?
Bob: I’m not leaving until I get paid. So I guess I’ll be here tomorrow morning.

Bob got paid at once. Pity that Obama’s contractors don’t have that same option.

The DNC is swimming in money, thanks to billionaires, unions, and illegal donations that probably come from China.

Do the contractors put leins against the building? Is there some exception for the buildings status that a lein cannot be placed on it? Or don’t they dare antagonizing the powers that be here? I would think before going bankrupt, somebody would attach a lein against it.

I have friends that are going down to see this monstrosity in October. I begged off. I’ll make sure they know about this. Maybe they can write a few checks to the laborers that have been stiffed, instead of spending the ridiculous entry fee to tour, ‘The Temple of Barky?’

A friend of mine is a carpenter. One time he had to put a “mechanic’s lien” on a house for nonpayment of services rendered. In his state, such a lien only prevents the owner from selling the house without first removing the lien.

So if the owner isn’t planning to sell, the lien has no teeth.

My friend eventually took the owner to small claims court. I don’t know how that turned out.

You certainly couldn't tell that from their spending on the special elections around the country since Trump took office. They massively outspent the GOP in virtually every race. Also the recent ballot initiative to redraw Congressional districts in Virginia. I expect more of the same this fall.
