Normally, nobody should cheer when a Wisconsin business loses its stock. Jobs, rent, suppliers, and familiar faces that sit behind every taproom door.
But Minoqua Brewing Company owner Kirk Bangstad has spent years turning beer into a vessel for political contempt, and now the state says the rules caught up with him.
Officials seized canned beer from his business, alleging Illinois-brewed beer had been brought into Wisconsin without the required permits or licenses. Bangstad said the state took about $25,000 worth after he failed to pay Wisconsin taxes on beer sold and stored at his Minocqua and Madison, Wisc. locations, as the Wausau Pilot and Review reported.

How can people that are so INSANE manage to prosper and run relatively successful businesses?

I watched a police bodycam video of this guy, he’s a complete a-hole.
You know the shame is that New Glarus makes some nice beer. Having friends/family run me Spotted Cow makes me feel like the two Atlanta guys from ‘Smoky and the Bandit’.

Many years ago I drank Wisconsin beer and liked it. I wonder if the people in Wisconsin are a little miffed about finding out that he was passing off Illinois beer for their homeland brew. I know I would be.

Been watching YouTube cop videos for the past month. Saw one starring Kirk and his merry band of leftists. The brewery sat across the street from some city newspaper. The drunk commie assembly would shout expletives at specific people. The perps, including Kirk, were arrested on numerous charges that day. That was fun to watch.
The problem was not that the beer was made in Illinois. The problem was that he failed to pay Wisconsin taxes on it when he brought it in.
There are several types of brewery licenses and not all of them can sell beer made outside their premises.
