“His pompous claim to be the “Voice of America” will not be well received in some conservative circles based on what he has actually said and promoted.”

Namely being anti trump and pro Liz Cheney.

“You would think the forum’s administrators know this. Yet, they remain ...”

There are probably rea$on$ why.

I watched an episode of “Foyle’s War” last night. One character was an American soldier who expressed unhappiness at being brought into Britain’s war.

“the US Navy destroyer USS Reuben James differed from those other lost American vessels lost in the fight against the Axis Powers in one important way: the Germans sank her in late October of 1941, over a month before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor spurred America to formally enter the Second World War.”

“Roosevelt assured the voters that, while ‘your boys are not going to be sent into any foreign wars,’”

“After his successful reelection, he set out to codify that idea with the Lend-Lease Act, which Congress passed on March 11th, 1941. By that summer, the US had begun sending ships full of all manner of equipment and supplies to Britain (and, eventually, the other Allies), with US Navy vessels assigned to steam alongside them as far as the seas off Iceland, where the Royal Navy took over escort duties.”

“The USS Reuben James departed Halifax, Nova Scotia, along with her fellow destroyers USS Niblack, USS Hilary P. Jones, USS Benson, and USS Tarbell on October 23rd, 1941, in order to escort a 44-ship convoy of cargo vessels hauling Lend-Lease supplies across the Atlantic. Over the course of the following week, the Reuben James and her cohorts made the harrowing trip towards Europe through waters patrolled by the dreaded submarines, the U-boats, of the German Kriegsmarine (submarines had already attacked two US Navy vessels by that point, missing one entirely but damaging the second, the USS Kearny, and killing 11 of her crew). “

“At around 5:30 am, the German submarine U-552 fired a pair of torpedoes at the convoy, both of which struck the Reuben James’ port side. The explosions tore off and destroyed the entire forward portion of the ship, including the bridge, killing most of her crew and every single commissioned officer aboard.”

“While the torpedoing of an American naval vessel and the deaths of over 100 Sailors caused understandable outcry among the families of the lost and the military community, most of the country pretty much shrugged it off. Even in Congress, responses generally ran the gamut from advocating calm to seeing the attack as an inevitable result of supplying the Allies against the Germans.”

There’s always been a significant reluctance to go to war in the USA.

While fictional, consider Clark Gable’s warning in “Gone with the Wind”.

I just post news and stuff i find interesting to pass time.

RF posting from England about our politics is an irony beyond words. He/she allowed the destruction of her own civilization. A total dismantling of their way of life.

She (rumors) may or may not be paid to do this. That's not important. What's important is the nerve of her wanting to drive USA politics to the same self-destruction of what happened in her country.

She ought to be ashamed of what she let happen, and what she is doing now.

But she seems totally incapable of self-awareness.

“I have seen war. I have seen war on land and sea. I have seen blood running from the wounded. I have seen men coughing out their gassed lungs. I have seen the dead in the mud. I have seen cities destroyed. I have seen two hundred limping exhausted men come out of line-the survivors of a regiment of one thousand that went forward forty-eight hours before. I have seen children starving. I have seen the agony of mothers and wives. I hate war.”

Franklin D. Roosevelt

Address at Chautauqua, New York (August 14, 1936)

“I personally don’t think anyone is the voice of America,”

True. This web site is a good illustration. Lots of disagreements sometimes way over the top and personal.

Some people spend almost as much time here attacking fellow FReepers as attacking leftists.

WIKI

America First denotes a set of policies in the United States that emphasize taking foreign policy and domestic policy decisions which serve the interests of the United States before the interests of all other nations and peoples.

The term was promoted by President Woodrow Wilson in his 1916 presidential campaign that pledged to keep America neutral in World War I. A more non-interventionist approach gained prominence in the interwar period (1918–1939); it was advocated by the America First Committee, a non-interventionist pressure group against U.S. entry into World War II.

The America First Committee's membership peaked at 800,000 paying members in 450 chapters, and it popularized the slogan "America First".

A century later, President Donald Trump used the slogan in his 2016 presidential campaign and presidencies (2017–2021, 2025–present), emphasizing the U.S.'s withdrawal from international treaties and organizations in the administration's foreign policy.

Levin is a blowhard…Though he does have good insight into the judicial problems with America

I only listen to Mark Levin when it has to do with law and the Constitution. I don’t always like Sen Graham. He’s never met a war he didn’t like or like to start. I certainly wouldn’t want him to be President. It’s probably because of neocons like Graham that we are recognised as the most powerful military in the world. That’s a good thing. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been also looking forward to seeing Graham in a primary because until McCain died and Trump secured the nomination in 2016, Graham was known as a RINO. Once Trump leaves the WH, he could change back. Rand Paul is another - but unlike Graham Rand Paul operates mostly on principle. Megan Kelly is a Trump / MAGA supporter for the most part. I rarely watch her podcast but when I have, for the most part she was speaking in a voice exactly like most here.

Tucker Carlson is an exception. He was giving Iran info out of the White House until Trump tricked him and used him against Iran. Tucker Carlson was really really good on Fox News (until after the 2020 election results). After that he went over the edge. He’s gone so far to the right that often times he’s holding hands with the extreme left. He’s lost all credibility with me and will never watch, listen, trust anything he ever says again.

Piers Morgan is British and yes compared to him Mark Levin IS the voice of America.

What I want is a small government, Peace thru Strength, less resrictions, 100% wokeless, 100% by the book with the law, secure borders and deportation of anybody here who is not supposed to be here, jailtime for legal immgrants who break the law and then deportation after they serve their time, federal government out of our business and making sure the states do the same.

Any republican who voted against IDs to vote have hurt the republican party more than anything Trump has ever done.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Levin ends up in a padded cell wearing a straitjacket. He has always been an oddball but now seems to have flipped out completely, with a severe case of megalomania.
