Today, I’m releasing never before seen intelligence revealing new evidence of past US government funding for more than 120 biolabs in over 30 countries, including Ukraine.

In support of President Trump‘s Executive Order to end federal funding of dangerous gain of function research around the world, and increase transparency and accountability, ODNI will continue working with partners across the Administration to identify where these labs are, what pathogens they contain, and what “research” is being conducted.

But is it a bio-weapons lab? There are thousands of human genetic labs here in the US.

The US leads human genetic engineering primarily through academic medical research, biotech companies, and specialized genome-editing centers. Major research involves somatic (non-heritable) gene therapies, CAR T-cell treatments, and CRISPR-based precision medicines. Federal law prohibits the use of federal funds for human germline (heritable) modification, effectively banning that subset of research in public institutions.

Prominent US-based laboratories and research organizations:

Innovative Genomics Institute (IGI) (Berkeley/San Francisco, CA): Founded by Nobel laureate Jennifer Doudna, this joint UC research effort develops CRISPR tools to treat human diseases and operates the Center for Translational Genomics.

Broad Institute (Cambridge, MA): A massive joint biomedical and genomic research center of MIT and Harvard, home to leading CRISPR/Cas pioneers driving genome engineering for human health.

Sanjana Lab (New York, NY): Based at the New York Genome Center and NYU, this lab integrates genome engineering, DNA synthesis, and single-cell multiomics to understand human genetic variations and tumor evolution.

Kleinstiver Lab (Boston, MA): Located in the Center for Genomic Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, focused on engineering and evolving genome editing technologies for clinical applications.

Center for Cellular Immunotherapies (Philadelphia, PA): Operating at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, this lab conducts groundbreaking translational research in human genome editing and cellular immunotherapies.

There are over 1500 high containment bio labs in the US. Are they all bio-weapons labs? No, just like the ones in Ukraine are NOT bio-weapons labs.

The United States houses at least 1,500 to 1,600 registered high-containment biological laboratories (Biosafety Levels 3 and 4), though the exact grand total of all bio labs is unknown. Because basic labs (BSL-1 and BSL-2) exist in almost every university, hospital, and high school, they are not centrally tracked.

Wrong. There was a Chinese virologist who was booted out of Canads research labs and she was doing gain of function experiments and she sent samples to Wuhan.

Intelligence assessments from the Canadian Security Intelligence Service indicate that Dr. Xiangguo Qiu led a project at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) assessing cross-species infection risks of bat filoviruses. The agency stated this work suggested “gain-of-function studies were possibly to take place”.

Yes, Dr. Xiangguo Qiu and her husband, Keding Cheng, were permanently removed from the National Microbiology Laboratory (NML) in Winnipeg.

Initial Lockout: In July 2019, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) escorted Dr. Qiu, her husband, and several of their Chinese students out of Canada’s high-security Level-4 virology facility.

Termination: Following a lengthy investigation by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), both scientists were officially fired by the Public Health Agency of Canada in January 2021.

The Findings: Newly released intelligence documents revealed that Dr. Qiu was stripped of her clearance and fired because she intentionally transferred confidential scientific information and materials to China. A CSIS probe further concluded that Mr. Cheng represented a serious security danger to Canada.
