Bears Leaving Illinois? Pritzker Says An Out-Of-State Republican Is To Blame

Pritzker dodged, weaved, and then — in a moment of breathtaking gall — pointed the finger at Texas governor Greg Abbott

Illinois Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker found himself in a tight spot this week when a television reporter asked the obvious question: Why won’t you spend a dime to keep the Chicago Bears in Illinois, but you’ve proudly dropped billions on illegal immigrants?

Pritzker’s answer? Blame Texas.

In a squirm-worthy exchange, the governor — who’s been quietly eyeing a 2028 presidential run — was pressed on his refusal to use taxpayer funds to help the Bears stay in Chicago. The team announced in May that it had “exhausted every opportunity” to remain in the city, with its only remaining options being suburban Arlington Heights or Hammond, Indiana — potentially ending a 100-year legacy in Chicago.

Good Grief. This fat slob things he's going to run for President of the US. He has a issue with honesty. Biden tried to flood Texas with millions of illegal aliens and Abbot completely out flanked him and other blue states.

Chicago is probably a rich enough market that the state need not cough up cash.

The Bears probably know where most of its ticket buyers live.

The team will make a rational choice, as hopefully will the state.

Illinois has a public employee pension problem due to decades of abuse and underfunding.

Money is not the issue here.

The Bears are tired of dealing with corrupt politicians so it's worth it just to move to Indiana so they won't have to deal with them ever again.

The issue is that the team wants clarity in state law regarding their future property tax liability if they build in IL.
They’re afraid they’re going to get gouged, and you can’t move the stadium after you build it.

When’s the last time you heard a democrat take responsibility for anything bad?

1st page in their playbook....deny responsibility and blame your enemy for what they did.

Basic liberal POS training 101.

Why to government employees think they deserve a tax paid pension?

“Why to government employees think they deserve a tax paid pension?”

If you understand the concept of collective bargaining units....that’s your answer.

“Good Grief. This fat slob things he's going to run for President of the US.”

If you’ve seen him on tv recently he’s not a fat slob anymore, so it’s a slam dunk he’s running.

Supposedly, if you have the $$ for the shot (he does) you don’t have to be a blimp in 2026.

The state of Illinois wanted to gouge the Bears in property taxes to the tune of $200 MM annually. The Bears did some research and of all the NFL stadiums the newest one SoFi in Los Angles pay $8.8 MM annually. Illinois thought they could charge 20 X’s that to the Bears. The Cubs (Ricketts Family) pay $3.9 MM annually for property taxes on Wrigley Field. The Cubs also pay around $14.1 MM for all the other properties they own that surround Wrigley Field. The White Sox pay 0. The stadium is owned by by the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority a public entity making it exempt from property taxes. The team pays about $2 MM a year in rent. The Bulls and Blackhawks pay about $10.8 MM annually, they split that.

All part of the demo playbook...run out anyone with wealth, brains or character, including billionaires and historic sport franchises. Nothing but poor ignorant plebes you can drain the federal gov’t for and rule like commie masters.

Until they buy and start clearing land in Indiana, this is just a bargaining chip.
