Sarah, Karmelo's attorney was NOT a public defender. That fact has been well established, and I don't understand why it keeps getting said.

I'm not a big fan of lawyers, but apparently he's a well respected private attorney.

Frustrating to see how incorrect information continues to be put out there.

Not sure where the $3 million comes from but if you earn 7% on $3 million, that is $210,000 per year which is more than he would make in real life. Also he gets free room and board.

Their lawyer isn't a public defender, he has his own practice. And the crowd funding account only raised about $625K, so I'm not sure they "got rich". The case was such a slam dunk, I don't think there was any way he was getting off. Well, maybe they could have done like in the prosecution of Kyle Rittenhouse, where the jury was tracked and publicly intimidated.
