A stunned Court TV panelist was left shell-shocked after hearing Texas teenager Karmelo Anthony had been found guilty of murder.
Sunny Slaughter, a legal analyst, appeared slack-jawed as she gave her reaction to the verdict, saying she was 'not expecting' that the 19-year-old would face a murder conviction over the death of Austin Metcalf last year.
The case sharply divided the nation as Anthony claimed he stabbed Metcalf, 17, in the heart in self-defense, with debates over race and Texas's Stand Your Ground laws fueling controversy ahead of the trial.
After a jury found Anthony guilty of first-degree murder on Tuesday, Slaughter said she was shocked that he did not face reduced charges of manslaughter instead.
'I did not expect the top charge,' she said. 'I really was thinking they'd see manslaughter, still guilty, but manslaughter.'
'But, wow, guilty of murder... that's heavy,' Slaughter continued.
'It seems like we're going to have a problem there.'
As the camera cut away to footage of supporters of Anthony and the Metcalf family clashing outside the courthouse, another person chimed in on the Court TV broadcast: 'This is dumb. This is dumb.'

It became murder when Anthony pulled his knife out of his backpack intending to use it.
Oh. She is black. What did you or anyone else expect?
How stupid and/or “woke” do you have to be to be “shell-shocked” by a guilty verdict in this case? This was about as much of an “open-and-shut” murder case as there’s ever been.

Karmelo went looking to kill someone and did it.
That’s what I would expect from a racist black -itch. Just like the prospective black jurors who were rejected when they said they couldn’t see sending a brother to jail. No wonder so many blacks are criminals with that kind of thinking. There are a lot of great black people, but unfortunately they are greatly outnumbered by the racist, victim dumb ones.
Bringing a weapon to that track meet was a clear violation of ISD rules and regulations. Another damaging factor was that he was suspended earlier for having a knife at school.

Somebody should inform the “Legal Analyst” that manslaughter is the unlawful killing of a human being without the intent to kill. Stabbing someone in the heart is very intentional.
As a juror, I would have a hard time supporting an “affirmative defense” argument in a criminal case if the defendant does not testify.
