Karmelo Anthony has been found guilty of murder for the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf at a high school track meet.
There was an audible gasp in the courtroom when his 35-year sentence was passed down on Tuesday evening. He will be eligible for parole after serving half of the time.
The same jury found Anthony guilty of murder earlier in the day for the stabbing death of Metcalf in 2025.
When the decades-long sentence was announced two women were escorted out of the courtroom after they said 'We love you Karmelo!' following the sentencing.
It came after the judge had already informed those in the public gallery that anyone having an emotional outburst would be removed from the courtroom.
Anthony, 19, sobbed and his family burst into tears as the judge read the guilty verdict. His mother had begged a jury to show him 'mercy' ahead of sentencing.
Jurors were then presented with arguments from the defense and prosecution before being sent out to deliberate on the length of his punishment.
Following Anthony's sentencing, victim impact statements were read aloud by members of Metcalf's devastated family including his aunt and the teenager's father.

Four black students testified against Anthony. If he had stabbed one of them instead of the white kid none of those protesters would have given a crap about him.
OK with 35 years. Death afterwards can wait for that loathsome little tur...er...DemocRAT.
There was a reason that there were no character witnesses brought in to testify for the defense.
Where were his teachers, coaches, clergy, friends?
There wasn’t anybody they could find to vouch for him except his mother.
Anybody testifying on Anthony’s character might have opened the door to some of his prior acts and things that were not made known due to his juvenile status.
He’s gonna mouth off to the wrong inmate.
Turd burgler?

Murderer Karmelo not listed yet.
He’s going just in time for the exciting summer season. No air conditioning.
This kid has impulse control problems. He’ll do the full 35, maybe more.
How about 350?
Should be the chair.
Both sides allowed a certain amount of preemptory challenges where they don’t have to give any reason for eliminating a potential juror.
That’s the sad truth.
True that.
Not enough.
Not even close.
With all of the fundraising for the “appeal” perhaps Karmelo’s family can keep Buying Large Mansions (BLM).
Should have been Life, no parole.
“He will be eligible for parole after serving half of the time.
Doesn’t mean he will get it..................”
OF COURSE IT DOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It depends on his attitude and if he causes any trouble for the staff..............
At least the blacks being interviewed for jury positions were honest in telling that they couldn’t be impartial, which is surprising.
