The elderly victim was left with minor head injuries after he was punched, kicked, and struck with a broomstick and a metal chair.
Tashara Abel, 27, was stuffing reelection flyers into mailboxes for Anthony Beckford, a DSA member and New York State Committee Member running for re-election as a Democratic district leader in the June 23 primary, when the elderly man walked in, and the two began arguing over the campaign materials, police and neighbors said, according to a report from the New York Post.
Abel “repeatedly punched and kicked the older man” before striking him with the broomstick and a metal chair, cops said.
Surveillance photos of the suspect leaving the building were released by police.

The victim was treated for his head injuries at the scene and declined being transported to the hospital.
CBS News reports:
Neighbors said they know the victim.
"He's a fairly nice guy, so everyone who walks up and down here, either with their kids or are delivering stuff, like, they know who he is," said neighbor Pierre Verna. "He's a good guy, been around for a long time. So hopefully he's alright."
“Why would someone want to do something like that to someone like that? It’s heartbreaking. It’s sad. I don’t know. I’m confused as to why. What was the reason for that?” another neighbor said.
Beckford’s campaign told CBS that they are “reviewing the incident.”
“I am currently reviewing the situation to better understand the full circumstances, and I have personally reached out to the voter involved to ensure he is doing well and has the support he needs,” the statement began.
“While volunteers may operate independently, anyone associated with my campaign is expected to conduct themselves with respect and professionalism at all times, and if it is determined that an individual connected to my campaign acted inappropriately, appropriate action will be taken,” the statement continued.
“We will continue to monitor this matter closely and remain prepared to cooperate with the appropriate authorities as needed, as our priority is maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all residents.”
Abel has been charged with three counts of assault, burglary, and criminal possession of a weapon.

I went to look for a photo of the perp, but I did not need to. With a name like Tashara the story screams “lack of impulse control”.

I understand what you’re saying. I would agree if the agitators were reasonable people. But they most certainly are not.
There is not one chance in a hundred that any of them would listen to reason.
So I will intervene if an innocent life is being threatened. But if some idiot wants to tell me to vote for a commie, I will just wish them a nice day. Unfortunately, there is no payoff in doing otherwise.

you need to learn a few things. I’m old enough to remember times before LBJ. I grew up in a blue collar inner city neighborhood that was half white and half black. Racial discrimination was a real thing back then and I was in the North where it was not as oppressive as the South. But, most black families lived and worked just like most white families. They had mothers and fathers in the house. The black kids were no more likely to be criminals than white kids. My house didn’t even have a lock on the front door.
All that changed with that Texas SOB Johnson and his “Great Society”. Back then, at least in the North, blacks were as likely to vote Republican as Democrat. Johnson changed that by exploding the welfare roles but insisting that any woman could get a monthly check as long as no man was involved. He wanted them locked into his welfare system. Here we are, 60 years later, with over 70% of black births to single mothers, and white births something like 20% out of wedlock.
Yep… blacks started voting for Democrats while their society and family structure was destroyed. Johnson knew exactly what he was doing. He was warned, but he did it anyway. LBJ has my vote for the most evil president we’ve ever had.
Dems will kill to control the vote.

You are so right. LBJ destroyed the black family unit. And I suspect that action will not be reversible. So things will only get worse.
I’m not quite sure who should be at the very bottom as the worst US president ever. But LBJ certainly belongs in the bottom three. As you noted, he was an evil man. Not misguided. Evil.
