A dog famous in China for traveling around with its owner was reportedly stolen, sold for less than $30 and eaten, according to media reports from Asia.
The South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that the dog’s name was Chutou and that he was an eight-year-old border collie who gained over a million followers on China’s version of TikTok, Douyin, for accompanying his owner, identified by multiple outlets simply as “Guo,” on journeys across China over many years.
Guo, according to SCMP, took a solo trip to Georgia last month and left Chutou behind in the care of his father at his home in the central Chinese province of Henan. The outlet reported that, on May 11, Guo’s father took Chutou with him to work in the family’s fields, and that’s when he went missing.
Frantic, Guo immediately cut his trip short and came back to China to look for Chutou, and surveillance footage was eventually obtained that showed “two strangers taking the dog on an electric bike,” the South China Morning Post reported.
“He was later told that Chutou had been sold to a dog meat restaurant for 180 yuan [$27 USD] and the pet had been eaten.”

Scum are everywhere.
I had farm dogs stolen and sold to laboratories.(There were many pets taken from my area one year.Even taken from front yards as the owners saw but police response was minimal .)
All cultures are not equal.
Well, what kind of sauce?
I had two beagles in my life. By the time I was caring for the second I was aware that beagles are the breed of choice for labs and we all know about Fauci. Fortunately both lived full lives and while one got lost for a short period and was then miraculously found there was never an issue with them.
China, culture cousin to Africa.
Dr. Marcus Peter who has a Catholic radio show said specifically all cultures are not equal and our American one is superior to the ones of the others.
He has a British accent and is a black man.
One commentary: (Shariah Law by militant Islamists trying to replace the West).

“Scum are everywhere.”
The Chinese have a festival where they boil dogs alive. They have no empathy for anyone or anything.
Chutou Chow Mein….🐶🍚
Sorry, I couldn’t help myself…..
I was in my 20s when I learned that juveniles in the City of Detroit routinely stole pet dogs from people’s backyards and other places. Some sold as bait for training attack dogs in dogfighting gambling and others sold to labs. Really high value pure breeds sold to new owners.
Gut churning.
Across the street from where I parked at Wayne State University to go to class in the late 1960s was a long building. I learned later that inside was a track complex with rails. The auto industry would strap dogs onto sleds and make videos and later autopsies as they tested the effects of various seat belts and the crush strength front ends of cars.
This is a border collie...
In a country such as that, if it were my dog, I would have set fire to the seller’s house in the middle of the night.
Thanks for your astute observation. But who cares? It was somebody's beloved pet.
So my sympathy goes to Guo, who I’m sure is angry and heartbroken to learn what happened to his beloved companion. I really do feel for the guy….
Back in the 1980s went to Hong Kong. Wife and I out walking around, got hungry, hot dog stand, never a hot dog that tasted like that. Asked my wife, you don’t suppose the hot dogs were hot dogs.
Might be an Australian Shepherd . A lady in the neighborhood had one .
Yes, and I wonder what their angle is in giving this story any coverage.
My guess is anti-internet.
