MAHA candidate beats Trump’s choice in Republican primary for Iowa governor

Businessman Zach Lahn’s win in Iowa’s Republican gubernatorial primary over President Donald Trump’s pick, Rep. Randy Feenstra, delivered a rare electoral setback for Trump in a primary season that had handed him back-to-back victories...

Members of the MAHA movement...cheered the win as a sign their political message was resonating with voters.

“This election is a signal that pro-pesticide does not mean pro-farmer,” said Tony Lyons, president of Kennedy-aligned MAHA PAC, which endorsed Lahn. “Zach Lahn made transitioning away from toxic chemicals the cornerstone of his campaign and won this election decisively with strong farmer support.”

“Iowa has the fastest growing cancer rate in the world,” Lahn said in Tuesday’s speech. “We all know something is terribly wrong. But too many politicians from Washington, D.C., to Des Moines have had their heads stuck in the sand while big ag and big pharma printed money. This will not go on when I’m governor.”

So Iowa has a crisis when it's cancer incident rate is about 1/10 of a percent higher (0.49% vs 0.37%) than the state with the least, New Mexico?

how does businessman Zach Lahn feel about ethanol? The rest of the country is forced to suffer because of Iowa.

An early poll from that race has Democrat Rob Sand leading Lahn by 8 points.

I suspect a lot of that is Sand’s name ID from being State Auditor. Let’s hope so.

San, like many Democrats, is one of those types who does everything to appear as moderate, non-threatening and mainstream as possible while hiding really liberal beliefs.

Plus, it’s a long way to November.

The MAHA are in some ways a weirdly bizarre group.

All things aside, they politically always favor government getting massively bigger and oftentimes, free gibsmedats if it is in the “healthcare” category.

Yes, some MAHA do not think in terms of savior government but far too many of them do.

Trump went 38-1 in this round of endorsements so of course The Ape Pee does a deep dive on the one. 🙄

Feenstra didn’t do much actual campaigning as people kept asking him about his voting to fund Ukraine. He skipped the debates and generally didn’t do much to win. Plus there’s still some residual resentment about the treatment of Steve King.

I voted for Lahn.

That’s a 32 percent difference.

So? As a percentage of population it’s still 0.49% incident rate vs the national average of 0.45%. While we all would prefer zero incidence rate everywhere, Lahn’s speech is just fear mongering BS. Relative vs. Absolute risk manipulation at it’s best.
