But nothing Amazon makes on its own is worth a damn - I know they're busy desecrating Tolkien's world and while Stargate isn't nearly as important to me as Tolkien, I have no intention of watching any DEI version of Stargate that Amazon pukes up either.

Given this repeated pattern of behavior by the studios which inevitably leads to massive financial failure on their part, we are forced to accept at least one of two possibilities:

1) That these people really are not only that utterly stupid, but also exemplify the old definition of insanity: "doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result".

2) That these people don't give a damn about financial success (when it comes to their products), nor do they care about making meaningful, coherent stories. They only care about the communist goal of destroying society through their warped, twisted, pedophiliac, degenerate, satanic propaganda, aka THE MESSAGE.

The original SG-1 punched well above its budget. The cast and their character arcs were perfect.

Why not just come up with a new idea/series instead of crapping all over an existing one?

Give "Riverworld" another try. And keep truer to the books. (the made for tv movie from the 90's was just awful). So much material to work with and you don't need a lot of special effects - just a river and some cheap sets along its banks.
