expanding the field to 48 teams means that most of the teams are very mediocre and a game between two good teams is rare.
the US team is borderline worth watching. Paraguay is not worth watching.

I mean, watching my kids play soccer was boring and I love my kids. Watching a bunch of grown men playing it - I wouldn’t go if they paid me those exorbitant ticket prices. No offense to those who do enjoy the game, and happy viewing to them.
Why would any American want to go to a global soccer event on the nation’s 250th anniversary?
Stub Hub cheap seats are $899 each, supposedly including fees. There are more expensive seats, too.
Some are now discounted.
Most of us are still too busy paying for demo-somali frauds and just can’t swing that this year.

Why would the 16th vs 40th ranked teams be considered an attractive match? Neither team is very good, neither team has any chance of going the distance, and sure the game is in America but we no history with Paraguay so it’s got no external interest. This is the problem with how large the WC field is, and how they organized the groups. They specifically avoided all the interesting natural rivalries, and added a bunch of mediocre teams that are destined to go 0-3.
Not many in the USA like kick ball .
Soccer is too gay for us. The same reason ballet tickets will not sell in Appalachia.

90% of Soccer game action is like watching an American Football quarterback hand off, three times in a row, to the fullback, who then gains two yards each carry, running straight into the center of the defensive front line.
Then, the USA punter comes in, and kicks the ball 45-50 yards down field.
Then, the other team sends in their offense, they repeat the three useless hand off plays to their fullback, and then also punt on fourth down.
My guess is that the organizers vastly overestimated the number of millionaire and billionaire rabid soccer fans in North America.
Who cares?
To 99% of traditional Americans, soccer is something their children play until they are old enough to play a real sport.
I pray this WC event is a complete and total failure. This is a football country.
They are trying to charge over $1000/ticket. Screw these people.
