is this motorcycle or car racin? Is that the really dangerous road race?
Motorcycle.
The last event I watched, the bike sailed off the course, flew about a quarter mile and became a little dot when it landed. Unknown if fatal.
Okay, what does TT stand for, as well as IOMTT?
IOMTT = Isle of Man Tourist Trophy.
My question too!
Yep. I was there but left during qualifying. Weather was super but turned for the worse the day I left the Island.
Subaru in 2016 did a time trial lap with rally driver Mark Higgins with a rally car. This was their second attempt — in 2014 they did this with a USDM Subaru.
They are going 175 MPH in a turbo 4 rally car. Bikes go over 200. And the average lap speed is 128.73 MPH in a car, while the top bikes go 133 MPH.
If there’s any car I’d love to see try this course, it would be a Porsche 962.

Yes, motorcycles, and its dangerous. But, getting that dopamine rush, whatever the means, is a must.
Sad.
I know my wife would be heartbroken, but angry as well, if I put my thrills above my family.
This race has averaged almost 2 deaths per year for about a century.
Motorcycles. Stone walls. Random sheep. You’d need stones of brass to race it.
“Isle of Man Tourist Trophy”
Residents are not allowed?
I suppose they are, if they can qualify.
Motorcycle Ping,
a sad one.
Is that the really dangerous road race?
“Is that the really dangerous road race?”
It’s a week-long event with many individual motorcycle races of various classes. It’s well known as the most dangerous motor racing event in the world.
Watch a lap - it is the craziest, most dangerous race left.

Was on my bucket list since started riding back in 1970. Finally made it in 2024. It was everything I thought it would be. Took a bus tour of the course that was narrated by an 11 time TT champion. Gives you an entirely different perspective of just how challenging the course is. Spent an afternoon at a bar up by Sulby where the speed trap is. Fastest speed I saw was 203. And you can just about reach out and touch the riders. The whole experience was awesome. Highly recommend it for any motorcycle rider.
Race cars are built to protect the driver. Harder to do that with a motorcycle.
That’s one hell of a brutal race.
