When you look at Warren Beatty’s resume, you can’t help but notice that there are some long gaps between films. Some of that has to do with the star’s famously deliberate approach to his work...Another reason for those long fallow stretches, though, is due to Beatty’s political activism...
Beatty’s never been shy about his liberal-leaning positions on the issues... But that never stopped him from reaching across the aisle when it came to friendships. Take his personal connection with Ronald Reagan...
After Reagan began his first term in the Oval Office in 1981, he and First Lady Nancy Reagan invited Beatty to screen his latest film in the White House movie theater. It was an honor, of course. But a slightly awkward one...
The film that Beatty was about to show him was none other than Reds — a sweeping and sympathetic three-plus-hour epic about the American Communist movement in the 1910s. Reagan was hardly the ideal audience for it.
“During intermission, we walked outside and he said to me, ‘I really don’t understand how anyone could be president today without being an actor.’ He wasn’t joking...
After the second half, which recreates Russia’s 1917 Bolshevik Revolution, Reagan confessed to Beatty that he was kind of hoping that the movie might have a happier ending.
Recalling this, Beatty laughs. “I was quite friendly with Ronald Reagan. I didn’t agree with him, but I liked him very much.”
Reds did turn out to have a happy ending, though. The film, which Beatty co-wrote, directed, produced, and starred in, was nominated for ten Oscars and won four, including Best Director for Beatty...

A great scene from the movie “Bulworth” that shows the Democratic Party in a nutshell:

I respect Warren Beatty for creating his artistic vision when he had all the tools at his disposal, but I’m thinking Reds was not very profitable, this was soon followed by the movie Ishtar, which became an even bigger money loser.
Those to movies kind of took the wind out of his sails as a rising Hollywood director, in spite of Reds earning several Oscars. For one thing, Reds was over 3 hours long, and most theaters could only show it once per evening, limiting how many viewers could see it each night.
Who is that fresh faced, smiling woman with Warren?
Is it Woody Allen’s friend for life, the woman who played
Annie Hall? It doesn’t completely look like her.
This lady has a figure.
Judging from the Xmas decor by Nancy in the photos, I think it was winter in D.C. and Diane was still stuck in California clothes and had to layer up? LoL just a guess.
She should have worn one of the coats from the film. Costumes were very well done. As was her performance.
Thank you for sharing. The scene is so accurate, and makes me want to check out the rest of the film!
I recognized Halle Berry right away. She’s been on a roll lately in real life lobbying for menopause research with mostly Republican women in Congress.
And in the spirit of that clip, she’s been sticking it to Gavin Newsom and won’t let up:

We rehearsed for President Reagan's arrival in our area, but that was rescheduled, we never got to play for him.
I did play for and meet Jimmy Carter.
You would expect a movie like Reds to be praised in Hollywood. That’s like preaching to the choir.
Dianne Keaton
That was after she divorced Michael Corleone.
I found Reds quite good
Like American history X its interpretation defied the directors intent
Pretty accurate I think
I saw it in Manhattan at a huge old Times Square theater
Lowe’s maybe
Huge wraparound with balcony
Cartoon fish sconces on ceiling
Maybe it rings a bell here
