I respect Warren Beatty for creating his artistic vision when he had all the tools at his disposal, but I’m thinking Reds was not very profitable, this was soon followed by the movie Ishtar, which became an even bigger money loser.
Those to movies kind of took the wind out of his sails as a rising Hollywood director, in spite of Reds earning several Oscars. For one thing, Reds was over 3 hours long, and most theaters could only show it once per evening, limiting how many viewers could see it each night.
You would expect a movie like Reds to be praised in Hollywood. That’s like preaching to the choir.
I found Reds quite good
Like American history X its interpretation defied the directors intent
Pretty accurate I think
I saw it in Manhattan at a huge old Times Square theater
Lowe’s maybe
Huge wraparound with balcony
Cartoon fish sconces on ceiling
Maybe it rings a bell here
