or..... there is no deal because there are no negotiations.

There is a war that is being lost by the IRGC because their revenue streams required for existence are all dried up.

President Trump has effectively cut off all the primary import and export paths that are necessary for Iranian existence.

As long as Iran retains the ability to militarily control traffic thru the Strait, we haven’t really won anything.

That, and retaining their nuclear materials during further "negotiations".

I think the Iranians have rightly figured out that U.S. gas prices could be a tipping point in the midterms. President Trump badly wants to be able to declare victory as soon as possible, and they are leveraging that.

Absolutely... so far they still have mine layers despite "not having a navy any more", they own the strait (again without a navy), the same regime is still in power and still have all their nuclear materials.

It costs the world over $2 billion a day in higher hydrocarbon prices for Trump’s dithering.

NAZI Germany was very popular with the German population.

Iran, not so much. The Theocracy does not appear to be anywhere as popular with the people of Iran as the NAZIs were with the German people.

Stay in your lane, Jack.

“a growing backlog of aging tonnage that is expected to head for the breaking yards in the coming years. Included in the backlog are hundreds of tankers operating in the so-called dark fleet”

https://shipbreakingplatform.org/platform-publishes-list-2025/

There are hundreds of tankers of little value available for Strait transit use. These tankers might proceed to India, which is a short trip away. The oil can be shipped on from India as Russian oil has been.

The world uses about 70 million barrels of oil a day. At a $40 premium to pre-war pricing, that means it costs the world $2.8 billion a day to allow Iran to block the Strait.

Iran may be able to sink a few tankers before the US Navy eliminates foolhardy Iranian boaters, but the loss of say $500 million of old tankers and the oil put in them is tiny compared to $2.8 billion/day, $20 billion/week, and $85 billion/month.

US consumers are paying about $30/more per barrel and the US uses about 17 million barrels a day.

That’s $510 million/day, the cost of several brand-new tankers filled with oil.

Congress could authorize Trump to use $1 billion to buy tankers stranded in the Gulf, fill them with crude, and have US Navy sailors run them through the Strait (or send them through by remote control or autopilot). A helicopter could be on each tanker in transit in case the crew needs to come off.

These transits could be timed (wind from the south) so spilt oil would wash ashore on Iranian beaches.

The steering might be locked so a flaming tanker heads towards Iran.

The tanker insurance market isn’t functioning for the Gulf. Bypass it!

Congress could authorize Trump to have another 60 days if:
1. any US vessel is attacked while passing through the international waters of the Persian Gulf or the waters of Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE or Oman,
2. an Iranian vessel, missile or torpedo enters the waters or airspace claimed by Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE or Oman within four miles of a US vessel,
3. an Iranian vessel fails to promptly and harmlessly sail to Iranian coastal waters when signaled by US military flare.

The US tankers are unlikely to be attacked. Does anybody here think Iranian thugs want Trump to have another 60 days to whack them?

There is a way to drop oil and gas prices fast.

“Germany fought to the end despite”

A+ 100%

So did Japan. This obsession with “our enemies do what they do because someone (Soros, Russia, CCP, etc, etc) is paying them” says more about the person posting than it does about our enemies.

The fact that the oil price per barrel is only about 90 and not something like 190 after the strait has been effectively closed for almost 3 months is evidence that we are being lied to about how much oil there really is in the world.

Seems Trump has Iran by the economic balls and can squeeze any time he wants without endangering any American troops.

How many folks are playing checkers, while Trump is playing 3d chess?

Folks have not learned that Trump does not play the book, he Writes the book!

Trump is a patriot. He was around when that whole Iranian embassy went down. He’s been waiting his time.

President Trump is being played for a fool.

It's the first time I've doubted his abilities. Love the man, but he's past peak Trump.

The problem is the regime as it has been for 47 years. They get stronger every minute they survived since the first bomb fell. They don’t need any military to win. It’s all bravado now. If the regime still exists it doesn’t matter what agreement takes place. The whole world will respect Iran as the one entity that stood up to Trump and survived. Trump lost the moment he initiate a cease fire. A victor doesn’t unilaterally issue a cease fire when the enemy is about to fall. Truth be told we were probably out of bullets, so we closed the Gulf and are resetting. Not a critique of Trump in anyway, but there doesn’t seem to be a way out. The regime needs to go. I don’t know how to do that short of an invasion which is not an option. The time was in January when the uprising happened and the regime was working on exiling to Russia, but after the world stood by and watched 40,000 people get slaughtered you have to imagine that put a little damper on the masses enthusiasm to try again. Iran has been systematically rounding up and executing the resistance ever since. I don’t have a solution to the regime issue at this point. Ripping on Trump or supporting him is pointless. The Arab neighbors have stood there helplessly while Iran pounded them assuming that was the price to pay to have the US do its dirty work and get rid of their mutual enemy, now the Gulf awaits America’s soon withdraw and they are stuck staring at the bully who punched them and their savior has tuck tailed and gone home. Completely inconceivable just 6 months ago when Trump had just came off a world wind trip through out the ME in 2025 with trade deals and Abraham accords. This is just a bigger failure than Gaza with other than Israel getting its hostages back nothing has changed. Hamas is still in charge getting stronger everyday.
My solution fwiw is to engage the Syrian and or Kurds to go into Iran with US support. Trump tells the little tin pot terrorist dick head of Syria that he can keep his little regime and will keep Israel off his case if he fights Iran who was his the biggest backer of Assad and his mortal enemy. This is Syria’s chance for retribution. Same as Lebanon, Hezbo fought in Syria to defend Assad, now it’s payback time. Let the muzscums kill each other while we grab some popcorn. Just my 2 cents worth.
