Thune spoke directly with Paxton following Tuesday's runoff victory, marking the first reported contact between the two men since the bitter primary contest ended.
A person familiar with the conversation described the call as PRODUCTIVE.
Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, told reporters she was "supremely disappointed" by Trump's endorsement of Paxton over Cornyn.

“fast enough”?
We’ve had DECADES of these back-stabbing assistant Democrats.
somebody out there (left side of the aisle) really cares about Paxton. the wiki article about him is longer than those of the last 6 USA presidents combined.
i do not trust wiki’s content but it makes for interesting reading. if you can get thru it, I couldn’t. smiles smiles.
Not only did Paxton win, he won big. Mainstream Republicans should accommodate themselves to this reality, for their sake as well as the party’s sake. Let’s come together and make Texas into a bottomless sinkhole for Democrat money.
The Kow is the last of the Turtle minions.
**I don’t understand your post, why isn’t this great news?**
That’s right dammit! Thune could of supported Talarico.
$100 million later. What gets me is Wesley Hunt throwing his monkey wrench into the machinery-no pun intended. He got his name out there for the future. Let’s say Cruz gets a SCOTUS appointment. Hunt wants his name out front but Cruz is too valuable where he is. Can you imagine Cruz in Thune’s majority job? Should Cruz get appointed to the senate Brandon Gill would be a great successor-handsome.
Speaking of looks I’d prefer a Flemming win over Letlow in La. Too late I suppose. More conservative record.
“ Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., said Republicans must quickly unite behind Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton after Paxton’s decisive primary runoff victory over Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas.”
***************************************************************
Jeez, the GOP establishment spent over $70 million supporting Cornyn in the primary and God knows how much in the runoff. Will they be equally supportive of Paxton in the general election? I guess we’ll see.
If he was, he'd be doing the talking heads circuit this Sunday saying that we need to pass the SAVE Act right away.
Probably won't. They'll just convince themselves Texas was an outlier.
Yep. If you're not advancing the will of the people, you're not leading.
If you're taking people somewhere they don't want to go, there's a word for that and it isn't "leadership."
The will of the people was loud and clear in November 2024, and in primaries since, but these swamp dwellers keep thinking they know best.
Obama made 32 appointments which were temporary. Only 20 were ever appointed.
Paxton was going to win anyway. It was a blowout.
I’m sure that’s why Trump endorsed him in the end.
He gave Cornyn every chance to show he could win.
Somebody tell Cornhole Thune cost him the primary by not passing the SAVE act.
Congress keeps blocking them. No fault of Thune.
60 votes...Go after the Dems stuck on stupid.
He is another get rich loser like Tom Daschle. $30 million is a pretty good bribe.
2/3rd of the pubs supported the guy, and it’s a big deal that Thine is supporting him?
Now that they wasted $100 million trying to save Cornyn who was obviously doomed......
The 2020 election was the most flagrant Constitution violation in U.S. history. The state Attorneys General whom Paxton sued broke the Constitution by breaking their own state election laws. In the process they deflated the votes of every voter in every other state.
Paxton was 100% correct. And YES, voters in Texas DID have standing to sue, as our votes were likewise diminished.
