For those who were impressed with how Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. handled two black snakes at Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz’s house over the weekend, he definitely upped the ante.
In a video posted on Wednesday, RFK can be seen removing a rattlesnake, presumably from his home in Los Angeles.
“In response to the many comments about venomous snakes, this video shows how Cheryl and I handled a recent rattlesnake rescue,” Kennedy captioned the newly-posted video.

Personally, I’d go with 22LR Snake Shot, but firing firearms in the ‘hood are frowned upon.
Never tried it, but I read many years ago of a trick with a rifle. You slowly swing the barrel near the snake and the snake will follow it. When he lines himself up with the muzzle you pull the trigger.
This sounds better:

I’ll just note that in the 10 years of living at the new [to me] Western Compound, 2 Rattlers have been dispatched on the [seasonally hot] driveway.

he looked more careless and fearlessly reckless rather than skilled or like doing a chore, he looked careless with those other snakes as well, more like he is showing off rather than skillfully removing snakes.
Well, good for RFK Jr. These days I think the vast majority of urban men, especially ones with elitist family backgrounds, would join their wife, girlfriend (or boyfriend) up on a table and furiously dialing 911.
When I was young and stupid, I used to catch them bare handed. The time I was in the most danger wasn’t so much from the snake, but one of the guys in the group of us that were out rabbit hunting. Anyway, when my hand was about 6 inches from the back of the snake’s head, this guy was sure I was gonna get bitten and he cut loose with his Ruger 10-22... emptied his magazine at it.... By some miracle neither the snake, me or any of the other guys was hit.
Never went shooting with that guy again, even though he was one of the few of us with a car..

That’s a kinda hairy way to go about catching the snake.
Given the (mostly) flat surface and a small snake, I would:
Put bucket, upside down, over snake.
Slide flat cardboard or similar under snake and bucket. (Has to be reasonably strong cardboard.) A simple baking sheet that is big enough would work even better. Lift the bucket only enough to slide your sheet in, say, 1/8”.
Keeping the sheet of “whatever” snug to the bucket, flip the combination. Now you have the snake safely in the bucket.
Don’t overestimate the length of snake needed to get out of the bucket! I’d likely dump the snake out of the bucket and into a trash can.
Call Animal Control or transport snake to a wilderness area.
Don’t take chances. Shoot snake in head with small caliber shotshell round if in any doubt whatsoever.
Another option, if Animal Control can come out fairly quickly, is to simply trap the snake under the bucket and put a heavy object on the bucket. Let Animal Control remove the snake.
(If the bucket is in the sun, you’ll cook the snake fairly quickly.)
I rescue rattlers out here with my .357 and snake shot.
