For those who were impressed with how Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. handled two black snakes at Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz’s house over the weekend, he definitely upped the ante.
In a video posted on Wednesday, RFK can be seen removing a rattlesnake, presumably from his home in Los Angeles.
“In response to the many comments about venomous snakes, this video shows how Cheryl and I handled a recent rattlesnake rescue,” Kennedy captioned the newly-posted video.

USED EXACTLY THAT KIND OF AMMO AGAINST SNAKES WHEN I LIVED IN SO CALIF & RODE HORSEBACK ALL OVER OAT MOUNTAIN.
GOT 7 IN ONE YEAR ALONE.

I think animal control here would be puzzled at such a request. They probably have a list of numbers for wildlife removal guys handy.
Well, no, I’m actually about 30 minutes and 18 miles out into the county from the County Animal Control office (in a town of around 20k people.) There are houses scattered around out here tho’: There are 5 within 500 ft. or so of our place, maybe a dozen within 1000 ft. But there are plenty of fields and small woodlots too. (It opens up a bit between the intersections that are usually about a mile apart.) If I called Animal Control HERE about a rattlesnake on my driveway, trapped under a bucket, I “think” they’d come out. There are kids at the 3 houses closest to us (maybe 4). A rattlesnake is not exactly a wandering opossum.
Or, maybe they’d send a Sheriff’s deputy. It might depend on whether I told them I had an appropriate firearm?
HOWEVER, I was thinking more of RFK’s situation: He lives in a $4.3 million townhouse in Georgetown (Washington, DC.)
Just in case I run into a large cottonmouth or rattlesnake, I upgraded to 9mm shotshell cartridges, when hiking / fishing / camping. The gun is more compact than my .22 revolver, or my .357 Magnum revolver, anyway. (9 mm is not a power upgrade over the .357, of course!)
