A 50 year-old Florida woman was viciously mauled to death by a pair of bloodthirsty pit bulls, only to be found by her heartbroken husband who said he’ll “never get the image out of my mind.”
Donnell Smith returned to his Brevard County home shortly after 1 p.m. on Tuesday — after helping neighbors across the street — and noticed his wife, Jodi Cowan, and their small dog had disappeared, according to WESH 2 News.
Smith then suddenly heard Cowan’s cries for help in the distance, the outlet reported.
“I saw the silhouette of the two dogs dragging my wife down the road, off into the grass in front of the truck down there,” Smith said.
Cowan was found lying on the grass in a pool of blood with dog bites all over her body, her husband said.
The beasts — who live in the neighborhood and were known to terrorize the community — apparently returned and tried to drag Cowan away again.
“I pulled my knife out, you know, just swinging it with one hand and holding the blood with the other, trying to stop her from bleeding,” a distraught Smith said...
“They must have been chasing our little dog, and she went to save her little dog to get him,” he said.
The grieving husband claimed the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office were aware of the pit bulls past terrorizing the neighborhood — but never did anything about them...
Neighbors told FOX35 that the pit bulls were frequently left outside and had previously attacked passersby.
One resident said they had been previously trapped in their vehicle for 30 minutes while the duo surrounded their vehicle. Another neighbor recently called animal control with concerns and even bought pepper spray for protection.

Only in America , as far as I know . No dogs roaming the neighborhood here in Japan that’s for sure .
It should be done with all owners of bully dogs. Not sure a murder rap would work, but accessory to a murder AND negligent homicide and civil suit leading to massive payouts to victims family. Basically end the viable life of the dogs owner.
Not sure what kind of dog, but there a case years ago in San Fran I think in an apartment building in which a woman was attacked and killed. I think the law went after the owners? It was a fairly well-known case.

My new neighbor has a Pittbull named Ginger. She’s a happy dog and always on a leash. The probem is that her owner is terrible looking and dangerous looking too. So far a very nice man but makes me sad to look at him.
And no, I’m not going to touch Ginger either.
Note the adjectives used to incite emotions and prejudice you further against the dogs.

How many people have to die because of this nonsense.
Under the genre of “It Happened to Me” stories in Combat Handgun magazine, an individual once submitted an account of walking his small dog when a seriously angry pit bull came barreling towards him from behind a house. He was carrying a Browning Hi Power and had to almost empty the magazine into it before it stopped. I think those old pistols held at most 13 rounds of 9mm.
On the other hand around the same time I read where a police officer put a pit down with 2 rounds of 40S&W.

Exactly. I lived with. FL and was present on two occasions when our Cocker Spaniel was attacked by vicious dogs. The second time it was a Cane Corso that was unleashed in our Boca neighborhood. What I learned from that incident is that- always file a complaint with Animal Care and Control. It may not help if you are the first, but you’ll be doing a favor to what would be the 3rd victim of the vicious dog.to be classified as a dangerous dog there have to be more than one complaints filed. I found in my experiences in FL that there would be a stack of incident reports a foot high on some of these dogs - but no one took the time to file a complaint.
Oh, ya, the owners were convicted and imprisoned. There were 2 Preso Canarios (spelling) that ripped the windpipe out of young woman and killed her.
