My Sunshine Protection Act has passed out of the House Commerce, 48-1

Big Vote today (48-1!) in the Energy and Commerce Committee on a Bill including The Sunshine Protection Act, which will be making Daylight Saving Time Permanent! This is so important in that Hundreds of Millions of Dollars are spent every year by people, Cities, and States, being forced to change their Clocks. Many of these Clocks are located in Towers, and the cost of renting, or using, Heavy Equipment to do this twice a year is prohibitive! The House will be attaching The Sunshine Protection Act to ''The Highway Bill." Great work by Troy Nehls, and all of the Members who voted, as well, for Railway Safety. I am going to work very hard to see The Sunshine Protection Act signed into Law. It's time that people can stop worrying about the ''Clock," not to mention all of the work and money that is spent on this ridiculous, twice yearly production. It will also be a very nice WIN for the Republican Party. Take it! We are going with the far more popular alternative, Saving Daylight, which gives you a longer, brighter Day - And who can be against that - This is an easy one! Thank you to everyone who supported this important Bill, and especially Chairman Brett Guthrie and Vern Buchanan.

President DONALD J. TRUMP

If the president signs this into law, he will have effectively ended my support of him. He is backtracking on another promised he made to eliminate pDST and is now endorsing it.

This is the hill you will die on? All that he has done and you want to draw the line at daylight savings time. Seriously?!!! And while I’m chastising you, get rid of the Twitter crap, it is just X. Move on.

This is not enough to make me abandon President Trump, but it should not be a matter for the federal government at all. Let the states decide for themselves. As a resident of Arizona for nearly 40 years, I definitely prefer year-round standard time.

Daylight savings type is an unnecessary ignorant scam.

Voluntary choice by organizations to commence or end normal working hours, seasonally, at an hour earlier or an hour later is sufficient for the issue. There is no need for anything but regular time, not “day light savings time” at anytime.

Just call it “War Time”, as during WWI and WWII.

The people who want DST year-round are more militant and more vocal about it than those who want standard time year-round.

I prefer it as it is, except I would want the time change spread apart. Switch to Standard Time the last Sunday in October. Switch to Daylight Saving Time the last Sunday in March. As it is now, it changes back from Standard Time to Daylight Saving Time too soon.

People should be able to vote which way they want it to permanently be.

The extra hour of sunlight should give a boost to the agricultural sector.

It actually gives a boost to the Islamic sector as they are supposed to be home by sunset during certain times of the year.

I prefer standard time as then the sun is at its highest point for that day at noon. A fair compromise would be to just adjust it a half hour and leave it.

Other good options:

-Set it so the school day always ends at sunset so the kids have no excuse to not get there on time in the morning and are pretty much stuck home when I’d like to be out.

-Abolish time entirely so everyone lives for today.

We should start a Grass Roots movement to make that happen.

Yes, plants will grow bigger with the extra light the government has provided.

Permanent DST is stupid. Actually DST is stupid.
And DJT needs to stop sticking his ego into everything.
He has a war or two to deal with.

When Trump promised to eliminate DST he meant the annual changing to DST in March. He isn’t changing his position. I have gotten used to the way he speaks: his mind runs faster than his words and he sometimes clips words.

Dropping support over this seems a bit overreacting, eh?

If he signs it I could develop Type 2 TDS (Trump Deification Syndrome)! It would be excellent.
