An Illinois park executive is facing backlash after she was accused of using a taxpayer-funded credit card to help pay for an $800 helicopter rental for her daughter’s prom photoshoot.
Quintina Brown, head of the Markham Park District outside Chicago, arranged for the helicopter to land at Roesner Park on May 8 so her 17-year-old daughter Quamyra could pose for pictures in front of it.
The helicopter company gave an invoice to city attorney Kelly Krauchun that included a credit card number linked to Brown, according to WPSD.
The invoice reportedly listed “Markham Parks” as the customer, used the park district fieldhouse address and included Brown’s signature.
Krauchun said at least the deposit was charged to a park district credit card funded by taxpayers.
“They told me that the deposit was charged to the card, and they have not been successful in getting the remaining $800 off the card, for whatever reason,” Krauchun said, referring to the helicopter company.
The invoice was reportedly for a minimum of $800 for one hour of service.
Markham Mayor Roger Agpawa said residents should be concerned if a park district credit card was used either to pay for or secure the booking.

No need to look. It’s them again, Yogi.
Why is this a surprise? This is the natural result of decades of one-party rule plus a press that thinks its job is to defend Democrats in power. The article talks about “backlash.” What exactly will the “backlash” be? Will these crooks actually be voted out of office? Will a reform candidate be voted in who will clean this type of corruption up? Will the local press finally start holding Democrats to account?
Quamyra. lol Bet she lost that game of Scrabble.
lol
“Well we’re movin’ on up....”
It’s the same wit athletic shoes.
Not a problem. Have her pay the money back, kick her out of office, and then send her to prison. Do that for enough corrupt gov’t people and they might start to get the message.
ABSOLUTELY NO SHAME !!!!!!!!!
Avoid people who annoy you.
That rotten culture will spend tens of thousands for some stupid prom photo shoot and to celebrate “graduating” high school with a .5 gpa just to produce another low iq retard living their whole lives on food stamps in a section 8 s hole.
Teeny tiny tip of the illannoy corruption iceberg,
Wide receiver.
“Quamyra”
Don’t need a photo.
Has the mother screamed “racist witch hunt” yet?
She will. It’s inevitable.
Another picture showed the daughter, a 17YO with a sleeve tattoo on her right arm. Kinda young IMO for that much body art.
“I’m not certain that this is actually illegal, or even improper, in Illinois.”
I’m sure you say that in jest - but there is probably some truth there.
In Illinois this may be normal behavior. It is probably done all the time. It was less than a thousand dollars; its not like the mother ripped off a million.
Same as graduation. You have never seen so much negotiation as the last weeks before graduation. I want to “walk the stage” with the people I have been going to high school with for the last four years. They don’t remember all the times they said the teacher wasn’t their parent, or they argued that they didn’t need to know math or English because they were going to be a rapper or play basketball in the NBA. I worked at a high school for years and I saw it so many times. Parents calling and complaining that they kid was cheated for having only 36% of a grade. They could not even bother to put their phones down for 50 minutes. Teachers have to give “extra credit” assignments. Kids move to online credit recovery classes and they can’t even do 18 hours which is enough to make up for a semester of math or science.

The problem is, probably 50% of the employees think that way. If a private business worked that way, they would go broke. With seemingly limitless taxing abilities local and state bodies can’t go broke.
As a high school teacher I saw this A Lot (all kinds of tattoos on kids).
Parents would “gift” their children tattoos on their birthdays - in California you have to be 18 to get a tattoo so they’d sign off on it. Kids would come in and show them off after their birthdays.
Funny thing - I had seniors in high school who were desperately trying to get those same tattoos removed. City had a tattoo removal plan for teens - they had to serve community service, which many of them did. There was a long wait.
