Michael continues to soar at the box office.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the music biopic charts the meteoric rise of pop star Michael Jackson, with Jaafar Jackson taking on the titular role. Michael has been a big hit at the box office since its release on April 24, bringing in an opening weekend of $97.2 million domestically and over $217 million worldwide.
Per Deadline, Michael passed $600 million worldwide at the box office this past Tuesday, with a global total now standing at over $604 million. This total comprises $353.8 million internationally and $250 million from North America. The film is projected to gross more than $20 million in its upcoming third weekend in theaters
Though Michael reviews have been mostly negative from critics due to its more surface-level exploration of the music icon, the film is succeeding in a big way with general audiences. On Rotten Tomatoes, for example, the movie has only a 39% critics' score, but the audience-driven Popcornmeter is glowing at 97%.

I think we need 5o separate the artist from the music
Damn! Imagine how many more people could’ve seen it if Spirit Airlines didn’t go tits up.
I read up about it and that incident was true.
But the movie doesn’t go in too deep on that or really any other topic.
I liked a lot of MJ’s music, but I’m glad he’s gone and no longer buggering little boys. Does that make me a bad, insensitive guy? Not in my book.
No one has proven the so called ‘buggering’.
Two other candidates made ads. One of them used a clip from the 1937 all-midget western The Terror of Tiny Town, his way of pitching that the school board needed a "new sheriff". The other candidate's ad had him onscreen talking about education while the video for "Another Brick In The Wall" played in the background.
None of us won a seat. But we did make the front page of the New York Times, Fox News, and outlets in Australia and Japan. It was a weird weird school board race, sixteen candidates running for five new at large seats. I didn't win but I had an amazingly AWESOME time campaigning! I learned so much, made many new friends... and hey I got to take a shot at No Child Left Behind :-P
Everybody should run for office at least once in their life. It definitely cam make a person better.
The incident happened but MTV’s motivation wasn’t racism, was it? Apparently the movie gives the impression that MTV was either racist itself or was fearful of a racist reaction from the public.
Okay, now I get it. That ad is great!! You hit exactly the right level of micro-budget cheeziness while pithily framing your message. Btw, I see your YouTube has about a half million views. Has that gotten you any kind of payout from YouTube?
Nickleback? Seriously?
Nothing from YouTube/Google. I had ads on my blog, from Google Adsense. Then one day my girlfriend at the time decided she was going to be “helpful” and she kept reloading my blog over and over so the ads would keep being generated. Google thought it was me personally doing that. They banned me from Adsense and YouTube earnings for life. I tried appealing but that never works. I don’t think they even ever examine the case, they just ban a person. I didn’t know about my girlfriend reloading the blog. But I paid the price for that.
“Does that make me a bad, insensitive guy? “
Nope.
Though, has it been conclusively proven versus rumours? I believed it when it first came out (he was so weird and the Eminem video!), but haven’t thought about it for a long time
Seriously.
Burn it to the ground, she keeps me up, how you remind me, if today was your last day are pretty good.
The Nickelback hate stems from a stupid skit in 2005. They’re pretty good imho.
Thanks.
Funny how “critics” never seem to like what people like.
And oj was found not guilty🤔😂
Did Conrad Murray make an appearance?
At best he had serious mental disorders, at worse was a pedophile. No thanks
Are you saying his family wasn’t white?
She’s not in it at all!
I liked it. It stops in the 80s. It does show his dad being a jerk.
It also talks a lot about the fire during the Pepsi commercial. It made me think maybe that event triggered the mental illness. It mentioned him being in pain and needing pain meds.
We’ll watch it when it becomes ‘free’ on Netflix or one of the others....he may have been immature and full of emotional problems, but he was a good entertainer...not sure if I believe the allegations or not. Will still watch it - heck, I’m not thrilled with the homosexual crowd, but loved Bohemian Rhapsody...Rami Malek did a superb job.
