Has anyone seen the ads for medicare benefit heath cards? The ads also describe is as a grocery card; able to be used for food and medicine. Some of the ads also shows grandma or grandpa puts on parties and BBQ for family saying they paid for it by the card. Is this suggesting improper use and possible fraud, at least in my mind.

If it sounds too good to be true, it very likely is too good to be true.
Caveat emptor...
Basically generally a scam. “Free” costs something.
I get $40/qtr on mine. There is a list of stores where you can spend it. I have spent it a CVS, and I have spent it at Publix. They don’t care what you spend it on as long as the store is on the list.
Free to whom?
Medicaid
Salesman for medicare attempt to bundle it all into one giveaway
Additionally, I never requested it, they just sent it and every quarter it refreshes. You use it or lose it.
You paid into medicare
Medicaid can be clawd back in the future
That has been online/air for some time now.
I think its going or was just removed by at
least some of the suppliers.
I have a Medicare advisor who comes over once a year to see if my insurance is right for my needs. Last year, Humana was the only company that was because I needed corneal transplant. $20,000 surgery.. Because of my income level, I also got a card to use at various grocery stores worth about $140/month.
Switched to United this year, get $42. Friend got Molina and has about $160 grocery card.. She’s a healthy woman too. And not exactly financially needy.
Try phone book for Medicare Advisor or even call Medicare office to see if they know one. Important to have insurance that fits your needs..

I don’t understand. I thought we were talking about Medicare. I don’t know anything about Medicaid. Believe me, I paid into Medicare, and continue to pay heavily every month for it. For some reason, the see fit to give me back $40/month.
My Medicare card must be the kind that can’t buy fried chicken. Because I would have liked some Fried Chicken this afternoon.

Things change over time on most things be it
good or bad. BUT...... FR is still pretty
much like it has been since the early days.
I suspect some changes may be a good start.

I think Medicare scammers who prey on the elderly should be executed.
If you think “caveat emptor” is appropriate for a disabled 85 year old woman there’s something wrong with you.
What you have paid into Medicare won't cover 3 days in an ICU.
I asked ai about. ai said it was a scam.
I got a DM today saying I qualified for a card with $6,600 on it. It says I qualified. I can groceries and pay utilities. It sounds like a credit card to me. All of these offers are mostly lies formed into offers, there is always a cost.
I saw an article that explained it as an insurer’s rep calling an individual and asking them if they wanted the Medicare “grocery card”. When the person said yes, they switched the insurance to their company and then sent the card that had something like $50 per quarter(the amount varies).
What the individual didn’t realize is at the same time they were switching insurance companies. One that may not cover their doctors and prescriptions. Insurance companies get big bucks from the government for each person they cover for Medicare and the representative gets money as well. There is big money in the entire scheme.
Of course, that may not be what you are talking about but I did want to bring it up.
but you don’t use medicare. you use that other program. I can’t recall the name. Senior moment.
how did you get $40@mo from medicare.
I pay heavily into medicare for a and b plus the suppemental f.
but I don’t see that benefit? how do you get it?
