Nicolle Wallace: Trump Turned Rubio Into a 'Jackass,' 'Loser' Despite Praise for His Briefing
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelsein

Posted on 05/07/2026 10:40:52 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

In one universe — the one inhabited by Nicolle Wallace and her Deadline White House on MS NOW— Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s lengthy, high-energy White House press briefing was an embarrassing disaster. Within 90 minutes, President Trump supposedly turned him into a “liar or fool,” a “jackass,” and the “loser of the day.”

In the universe the rest of America watched, Rubio delivered a commanding, substantive, and at times inspirational performance that drew praise across the board for its policy depth, wit, and poise.

I love Marco and everything you said is true that being said Marco did flame out in ‘16 and Desantis is the closest thing to Trump we are going to get (without the unforced errors caused by his ego and mouth, and lifestyle). Where would Republicans be if Desantis lost his first election for Governor....I shudder to think. Thankfully he didn’t and Florida became a second Texas as a haven for Republicans during covid and therefore took the largest swing state and made is a safe Republican haven.

I guess killing 5000 Kurds in Halabja with sarin and mustard gas doesn't count as proof of WMDs...the Iraq war was approved due to Iraq denying and refusing WMD inspections... And btw WMDs were discovered in Iraq as well as Uranium...And we already knew the bulk were moved to Syria before the '03 attack. ISR filmed the convoys. Assad later used them on civilians in his civil war.

I have to agree with Justa. We knew Hussein had them; we'd seen them used. We found the mass graves. We found buried nukes, now they were unusable because he'd hidden them in a way that destroyed their components, but he did have them. And I vividly remember Colin Powell saying in an interview (I think with Leslie Stahl) that the biological and chemical weapons were so small but so potent, the entire stockpile Hussein had could fit into a school classroom, or the back of two semi trucks. He also commented on trucks moving toward Syria that might contain them. He never said it again, which suggests to me that he spilled way too much info on TV and was probably told to STFU after that. But I remember that interview.

This from another DemonRat useless tool.

Worse than the Democrats. She was the "Republican" assigned to "help" Sarah Palin in 2008. We all saw how that worked out.

I have a ton of reasons to bash Bush, but this isn’t one of them. The missiles were real, the nuclear enrichment program was real, the devices were real. And Iraq was already using other kinds of WMDs. And the entire intelligence program was stocked full of Clinton loyalists, so there can be little wonder why he believed British, French and Israeli intelligence who reported that Iraq had yellow-cake uranium while senior US officials were dubious.

GMTA

From the article:

“The intensity of the mockery raises the question: are some on the left already viewing Rubio as a potential 2028 threat? After years spent trying to kneecap JD Vance, some in the liberal media appear to have shifted targets. Looks like MS NOW has gone into preemptive attack mode.”

Yep. If he runs he’s almost certain to win in ‘28. The Dems recognize this and they need to nip it in the bud.
But Wallace...my only exposure to her is from watching election night coverage, and if 2024 is any indication, she will be oblivious in a rehab in 2028.

Rubio’s stock keeps going up in my estimation. The further he distances himself from Trump the better. Diplomatically of course.

Notice how he has been all but carved out of the Iran negotiating process, a very normal job for State. This may be in his best interest and by choice. I somehow suspect that it is by choice that Vance has taken himself out of this picture as well. I really hope so.

That settles it. Rubio 2028.

Why? Wallace and her kind follow the Bill Kristol model of supporting Republicans:
Support what hurts and attack what helps Republicans when it causes the most harm.

As I have said all along, SOME voters are influenced by the legacy media’s bias.
RE: Who cares what she thinks?

Not only polls but lately two different analysts pointed to that factor. Example: The overall economy is fine but gas is up for a few weeks so midterms may be influenced by voters who are influenced by the characterizations in the media that Trump caused a near depression.

Everybody told me “people don’t watch the legacy media” and “people get news from clickbaits and two line reports and headlines on their smartphones.”

Mostly true but some listen to these cretins on TV.

I doubt Rubio is a puppet/useless tool that the President can turn him in to anything. You can’t say the same for this nasty woman with TDS so bad everything that happens in her pathetic life is because of Trump. Shun such ugly and nasty people. They are not important in the big scheme of your lives. she should look in a mirror to see a howling stupid jackass.
