The billionaire died on Wednesday, according to the cable news network he founded.
Turner was nicknamed the 'Mouth of the South' for often being outspoken, and built a media empire that included movies and sports channels, as well as owning the Atlanta Braves.

The curtain was pulled back on CNN when they admitted to censoring the news on Saddam Hussein and Iraq in order to maintain a bureau in Baghdad.

Did Ted Turner have anything to do with CNN then?
Not just any Confederate; he was playing LTC Waller Tazewell Patton, great-uncle of General George S. Patton.
I thought he died years ago.

His brain did.
“Why can’t they have 10?”
Because Iran uses proxies to attack Israel and Red Sea shipping.
RIP.
A visionary. CNN, TCM, buying MGM, etc. Ended up keeping the film library. Wished he kept the United Artists library (Rocky, James Bond, etc.)
Thank you for creating Turner Classic Movies. I don’t have it now, but watched it all the time when I did.
Maybe a lot of it will get sold off, creating more arable land for growing dental floss.
She was probably good at a couple things...
To answer your question, nominally.
Turner gave up operational control in 1996 Time Warner acquired Turner Broadcasting System. He became vice chairman of Time Warner but no longer ran CNN directly.
The incident I mentioned was admitted to by CNN news chief Eason Jordan in April 2003, meaning that it had been going on for some time already.
Turner resigned as Vice President of the board in February 2003, and he resigned completely from the Board of Directors in May 2006.

Ted Turner was still alive????
Where did Ted’s money originally come from? I would say I was a fan in my younger days. Maybe didn’t know better. He made things happen. Captaining an America’s Cup boat. CNN. Putting the Braves on every home game.....
I worked with a guy whose sister, supposedly, I don’t know just going by what I was told, was Ted’s 1st wife. When they divorced she got 16,0000 acres in South Carolina plus a big ass house. Hey, If you can overcome that you must be pretty good!
Heck, I’ve been through 3 and given away 4 houses and a business so I can relate somewhat!
Once owned the Atlanta Braves and invented the superstation.
I lived in Atlanta in the late 70s. Turner was everywhere all the time. And TBS along with WGN out of Chicago was one of the first superstations. I saw a lot of Braves and Hawks games lol. But CNN was truly a farsighted move and with the first Gulf War it truly arrived. Also buying MGM’s film library which led eventually to TCM. Yeah he was a bit of a nutjob - sorry. As he was a billionaire shroud he be called eccentric? - especially wrt religion and his choice in spouses questionable …. But consider the man in full.
Some people are defined by their mistakes, and their lives may serve as a warning to others.
He managed the Braves a game or two.
me too a bad ass then he got p whipped
He met JESUS today and unless he believed he’s not in a good place
Don’t forget Flip Spiceland on weather. 😎
No, but Ted must have been a despicable human being. Why else would someone like Jane convert to Christianity? My enduring image was Jane and Ted in the stands at Braves games doing the Tomahawk Chop. So un=PC at the time.
