You may recall an article by a couple of bioethics professors that appeared a few months back in a science journal and caused more than a minor kerfuffle for proposing that it might be beneficial to the planet to spread lone star ticks around. Why? Because these ticks spread what is called the alpha-gal syndrome (AGS). It takes its name from galactose-alpha-1,3-galactose, a sugar present in the meat of most mammals. The immune systems of tick-bite victims can develop allergic antibodies to the meat-sugar and can then have a severe allergic reaction when they eat red meat (beef, pork, lamb).
The two “ethicists,” Western Michigan University professors Parker Crutchfield and Blake Hereth, published their proposal, entitled “Beneficial Bloodsucking,” in the October 2025 issue of the journal Bioethics. “Herein, we argue that if eating meat is morally impermissible, then efforts to prevent the spread of tickborne AGS are also morally impermissible,” say the dangerous duo...

“we argue that if eating meat is morally impermissible,....”
Being a leftist pos lunatic should be morally impermissible.

The experimental center for tick born diseases was created in the 1960s just a few miles from Lyme Connecticut.
Just before the tick born LYME Disease was discovered.

I’m in the burbs and we’ve got more ticks than we’ve had for at least a decade.
I worked on blm and usfs handcrews and for some reason when everyone else got lots of ticks , I got none.
Maybe it was my blood type , A+, they didn’t like?
They must be intimidated by top students.
If something like that is happening, it strikes me as one of those situations where ‘if you catch them in the act, don’t bother calling the authorities. Load the 12 gage with rock salt’.
And the lone star tick with alpha-gal just happens to be dominant in the area around the CDC. Nothing to see here...
Lol.
Why rock salt? Why not buck shot or deer slugs?
U vill eat ze bugs 🐛 🐞 🐜!
Because the perp will not only suffer, but will have to explain why they were trespassing on private property unleashing a box of ticks that may carry that disease. No way the mouthpieces in the media can spin that.
You deserve Detention for that one.
They would find a way to spin it, trust me.
I wonder how many vegan activists are intentionally collecting the ticks and bringing them to new areas.
Of all virtue-signalling lefties, the anti-meat vegan activists are among the most obnoxious. I remember Jim Goad once writing "It's hard to believe that Hitler was a vegetarian. He just doesn't strike me as quite pushy enough to be one".
It was Plum Island in the Long Island sound.
Odd that this is so talked about now. I’ve had it for 20 years and got it in FL cleaning up the mo-in-law’s property up near the GA line.

We used to have ribeye night every couple of weeks. Then I started waking up with the hives at 1-2 am. Took a while to put two and two together. Tried different sheets, laundry detergent etc.
It is manageable. Steal one bite of steak from the wife. Steal two bites next time and so on until I can eat a serving again. Baby back ribs and other fatty pork will trigger it too. Had some ham from a home raised heritage breed and went way past the hives into Anaphylaxis zone one time. Definitely not “the other white meat”.
Doctors in Turkey came up with a desensitization protocol for a couple of people there that had it. Started with a little pure beef extract(water that beef had been boiled in) and doubled the amount every day. Then went to actual beef.
I’ve been doing cleanup around the property, raking and burning leaves etc so I’m allergic again due to a couple of Lone Star bites. Got the place cleaned up and just need to spread a bunch of Sevin granules to get rid of the ticks for the year.
Steak-um is 100% beef and nothing else. Good for desensitization. They had NY Strip on sale last week so my son will be having it for dinner tonight and I’ll steal a small chunk.
