Food stamp fraud crackdown at USDA would end loophole that lets Ferrari, Lamborghini owners get benefits

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is ramping up efforts to crack down on food stamp fraud nationwide, targeting what officials say is a loophole allowing some wealthy individuals to qualify for government benefits.

Secretary Brooke Rollins posted on X this week that a single state has 14,000 individuals on SNAP benefits who also drive luxury vehicles like Ferraris, Bentleys and Lamborghinis.

She warned fraudsters the USDA is working to close a loophole under the Broad-Based Categorical Eligibility policy used to qualify for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits despite having the financial means to purchase cars for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Rollins told Fox Business this week that the department is "getting very, very close to being able to fix that" loophole.

SNAP, the largest federal anti-hunger program in the United States, has long been a target of conservatives pushing for reforms, and Rollins spoke to "The Ingraham Angle" on Thursday night to shed light on just how widespread some of the issues are.

"We've found 500,000 people getting more than one benefit illegally. We found 244,000 dead people. This is just the red states," Rollins said about what she's discovered going through the data from the states that have agreed to provide it since her first day on the job.

"We have arrested 895 different people in the last year for illegally using the food stamp system and, of course, now we're talking about what is happening with that money."

USDA data shows 4.2 million fewer food stamp recipients during President Trump’s first year in office as the administration continues to crack down amid reports from all across the country that food stamps are being misused.

So eliminate it all. It’s not the job of the federal government to feed people.

I know a person who had a substantial trust and home and everything in trust from her parents who gets welfare and snap for kids. Lives in a house that is not hers” and drives a G class Mercedes that is not “hers”.

This will not close that loophole as the money is not “hers”.

In many ways, its not a “loophole.” Obama massively expanded eligibility for Food Stamps so that people who are way into the Middle Class are eligible for them. It was part of Obama’s program to get everyone hooked on government handouts to get them voting Democrat. So people who own Ferrari’s using Food Stamps is a feature, not a bug.

It is very strange........the Feds provide most of the food for our local food bank. Tilapia from China, frozen veggies from Egypt.

Few of the people are thin. They never take canned veggies but chips are gone in a flash.

The underbelly of volunteering is you realize you really are not helping folks......just unloading trucks and moving boxes around

They need to find the key to killing the benefit to states and to the bureaucracies for constantly finding ways to add more people who shouldn’t be on the various programs, a permanent built in method for uncovering and penalizing the states and bureaucracies built in compulsion to increase the numbers of needy and dependent, and the resulting effect of tolerating fraud, that comes with that self-serving goal.

These are the people who seem to have unlimited amounts of free time to ‘protest’.

Yes. A trust fund is not counted as income. Also, if you report that you only have one house and one car, you are golden. Nobody really asks how much the house and care are worth.

You have to give the govt bank account info, but if you only report one bank account, they don’t go looking for any others, I think.

On Saturday mornings, I often have occasion to drive by a local church.

Two Saturdays a month they have “free food” distribution. At the start of the new school year, free school supplies.

The parking lot is full of late model Cadillacs, BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, top shelf SUVs and even a Maserati or two. Women dressed for, I’m not sure which, church or night clubbing.

All stuffing there trunks with “free stuff”.

The loophole in most states is Deloitte Integrated Eligibility System which is intentionally designed and developed to give benefits to the dead, to duplicates, to impossible addresses, etc.

Deloitte is the big fraud of our tax money. The Somalis, the Ferrari owners are small stuff compared to Deloitte Fraud.

When will RFK, Dr Oz, Dep of Ag, DOJ go after the big fraud?

You should stop by there tomorrow morning and snap a picture of that most remarkable parking lot for us.

“They need to find the key”

Step 1. Software & a Software company that is not a FRAUD.

It’s not really that remarkable around here.

Have two family members in public education. One in elementary and the other in high school.

When they have their “free school supplies” intended for those in need, the scene they describe isn’t much different.

It’s a cultural issue. Much like those who on Halloween take the entire bowl of candy instead of a few pieces. And I’m not talking about the kids but the parents escorting them.

“ The underbelly of volunteering is you realize you really are not helping folks..”

I volunteered at a homeless shelter associated with the Church in college.

They’re 99% bums and bums by choice. Or just crazy people who really needed to be institutionalized.

In three years, we had exactly one family unit that had a weird triple hit of lost job, bad ex husband, and kids. Within a month, we had them cleaned up, safe, employed, and housed, and back in school, never to need help again.

The rest? Meh. Screw ‘em.
