The warnings about AI’s impact on jobs echo from Silicon Valley to Wall Street to Washington, D.C. But Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang thinks you should worry less about the robots and more about your coworker, the one quietly “tokenmaxxing,” or using AI to do in minutes what takes you hours.
In a recent interview with former National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster at the Stanford Graduate School of Business alongside Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), Huang said AI won’t exactly replace you. Instead, it’s possible you’ll be replaced by the worker who’s boosted their productivity by using AI.
“It is unlikely most people will lose a job to AI,” Huang said in the interview published last week. “It is most likely that most people will lose their job to somebody who uses AI. And so we have to make sure that everybody uses AI.”
The statement is a break from what other business leaders have warned about the technology. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said the technology will wipe out half of all entry-level white-collar jobs. Microsoft AI chief Mustafa Suleyman has said the same, and gave it about 18 months until that becomes a reality.
At the same time, there’s growing discontent among workers over AI adoption. KPMG found in November that four in 10 workers fear AI could take their job. And a report from AI enterprise platform Writer found that 29% of workers are actively sabotaging their company’s AI strategy, with about one-third of those citing fear of AI for doing so.

Were you spending that much on tokens to justify running LM Studio locally? I did a personal coding project and Claude Code asked for one additional token purchase. I did keep bumping up against time limits, though.

I would think that might depend on the size of the universe of data to be used to answer the question to be processed by the A.I. model. If the universe of data is all within the data the business unit has, then yes, the A.I model does not need data from the massive server farms.
But the larger questions will demand data outside of the universe of data the business unit has, and maybe even beyond the universe of that business segment in the economy, and for such large universes of data it will come from large server farms, such as “the cloud” now represents. And the “size” question then becomes does the A.I. inquiring unit (computer processing unit) have the capacity to process all the data called for. Or does the unit asking the question only call out to an A.I. server farm, which crunches the answer, and gives it back to the calling unit - much as A.I. questions are now handled in general Internet browser fashion, whether from a computer or a cell phone.
[I remember some actuarial applications we worked on many years ago, and a few of the major report programs worked fine and with quality results, but the combination of the complex mathematical questions being asked together with the mountains of data the questions had to process, it was hours before the computer spit out the full report.]
And I expect some A.I. models will begin to be made into smaller versions of themselves, specializing in particular areas or forma of inquiry, and yes, some of them will even be written directly on chips, as firmware, fitting uses on many types of devices. Some of the A.I. models will be models for making specialized models.
But at some point The Law Of Diminishing Returns comes into play, where all that additional processing just won’t be necessary for most tasks.

He is also selling software. He is a doer not a keyboard jockey.
I’ve been using grok for lots of stuff. It’s so nice just opening the app and having it write craigslist ads for me. Take a picture, say what it is, and it pops it out.
I’ve been using it to organize my tax records too. I haven’t looked too closely but upload the receipts and it takes care of it all.
It’s basically like what happened when Excel Spreadsheets became widely used in the workplace.
The interstate system was a tool for economic effiency and then became a heavy maintenance cost. The first mile of interstate was an incredible return. The last mile was a negative return.

I definitely see a lot of AI videos where they are trying to make it much more difficult than it needs to be.

Then who will be able to afford those robots and tools the company wants to sell?
Sadly it wasn’t. The medical doctors really did not understand how excel worked. This was around 2015. They did not know it could “do that.”
I took note of who they were so I wouldn’t see them clinically.
I was doing PowerPoint in the mid 90’s at conferences. I think it was the excel functions that blew them away. Maybe it was telling them “the problem” wasn’t their fault probably made them more amazed.
The point is to use more tokens !

This is a sign that tech CEOs are starting to back away from fantastic promises and recognize reality.
The key to using AI as a productivity booster is to eliminate the time they waste. The sooner you recognize when AI leads you into an endless loop of trial an error, the better your chances of a net gain.
