I purchased some stereo computer speakers w/woofer from a vendor on Amazon. They arrived on schedule but the box had already been ripped open and the cables shoved in all tangled up like a backlash on a fishing reel. The protective sleeves for the items were at the bottom of the box.
Also, the other owner neglected to put the instructions back in the box. So, I'm gwine return it.
I formerly returned items for free dropoff at the nearest UPS store. But, they've changed it. Now it's either Whole Foods or Rent A Center. However, Rent A Centers locally are not equipped to offer such a service. They say they've been informed they'll be doing such returns but they've received no equipment for such.
That leaves Whole Foods as the only other option. Bummer, as they're on the other side of the next city over.
First World Problems.

AI makes the new rules ,LOL
Here in LA they also use UPS, Staples, and Whole foods
Obviously a local merchant’s choice. I don’t have any problems with Amazon returns via local UPS. In fact, just dropped off a return yesterday.
I had a similar experience with other items. I experimented with the return reason and was able to get the ups drop off selection. I don’t recall which one though.
My nearest Whole Foods [alternate reality spaces, AFAIAC] are ~340 miles away.
Around here we’ve always had Kohl’s stores as a drop off along with the UPS. I don’t know if there’s any Kohl’s stores around you or if they still do that because I haven’t had to return anything yet this year, but you could check.
What changed? UPS no longer accepts drop offs?
I use the UPS drop off. They say they charge a dollar but i haven’t paid any thing.
I recently used UPS.
Made an Amazon return at Kohls last week
Try Kohls if you have one.
I try not to buy anything from Amazon that I might have to return. Their return policy used to be easy. Just box it up, print out the label, and find a UPS driver to give it to. Now, you have to take it to a UPS store or pay an additional “fee.” The nearest UPS store is 60 miles from me.
Could be worse. I’m at least 180 miles in any direction from the nearest of either.
I’ve had three mail in returns to Amazon in the last two years; They say they have received none of them, despite tracking showing that they did. Fortunately the total cost of all that returned stuff is under $75. And every time I have contacted them by phone or by online chat, for ANY reason, the “Customer Service” people have outright lied to me, even when there was no good reason to do so.
I boycotted Amazon for many years due to Bezos’ leftist activism, but when I quit using eBay and PayPal due to THEIR evil policies, I had to start using Amazon again in order to get stuff (mostly electronic and electrical components) I need at a reasonable price and relatively conveniently.
I wish there was a good alternative, so that I could go back to boycotting them....
I returned an Amazon item to the UPS Store two days ago. I too noticed that Whole Foods was the first return location presented, but clicking on ‘see more return options’ (or words to that effect) revealed the UPS Store and others.
Yeah for us we always do amazon returns at whole foods, its closer to my house and you dont need the original shipping box so for me its much easier but it all depends. You also dont need to bring out a shipping label..but here you also have the option to drop it off at your local staples if there is no whole foods in your area
I have AZ prime and have never been charged a fee for UPS drop off, nor do I have to package it or label it. I get a QR code for them to scan and they handle all of it.
When I do a return, there are usually 2 or 3 choices showing. Below that is a dropdown menu where you can select from 3 or 4 more options. Maybe you missed the dropdown?
First World problem indeed! LOL!I recently did a return that was delivered to my 2nd rural residence. I’m accustomed to dropping it off at Kohls, but the only options were print a la ups label and ship it back, or have ups pick it up. I picked the pickup option and it worked fine. Only problem I’ve ever had was a set of riding mower tires that didn’t fit my mower. I would have had to ship them back at my expense and wait for the refund. I still have them...anybody need a set of tires?
Get it changed to UPS. I prefer Amazon chat that is a bit hard to find.
