On Wednesday’s Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough mocked Republican criticism of Virginia’s redistricting scheme and cleared a path for Democratic Gov. Abigail Spanberger to defend it without facing a single hard question.
Scarborough ridiculed Republican objections as “screeches,” “howls,” and “whining,” reducing them to “blah, blah, blah.”
He went further, hailing the Democrats’ redistricting scheme as “conservative with a small c”—an outrageous misrepresentation of a plan designed, with malice aforethought, to wipe out all but one Republican congressional seat.
And then came Scarborough's silence.
During her gubernatorial campaign, Spanberger said: “I have no plans to redistrict Virginia.” But Scarborough never mentioned that campaign pledge. He never asked what changed. Never pressed her to justify her bait-and-switch flip-flop.

The U.S. Constitution requires states to have a representative form of government. Article IV, Section 4 mandates the United States “guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government”. This requires state governments to be representative, acting according to popular will rather than direct democracy or monarchy.
Gerrymandering is in conflict with this.

I think a judge in Tazwell has already filed the suit to vacate it. His original one won in court but was stayed by the VA SC who said you can’t throw out an election until it happens.

Mika makes no bones about being a liberal. Spanberger lied through her teeth during the campaign, positioning herself as a moderate, and saying “I have no plans to redistrict Virginia.”

“The Conservative Treehouse” had a post listing four solid objections to it.
I checked about 3 hours before the polls closed and the ‘fors’ had about 600,000 votes and the nays had about 750,000 votes, and the final tally was Choice Votes Percentage
Yes 1,575,288 51.45%
No 1,486,229 48.55%
Total 3,061,517 100.00%
Now I am pretty sure that over a million folks stopped in after work and voted yes..I think this will be headed to court (I hope).

In the event that another state redraws its own congressional districts before 2031, without being ordered by a court to do so, the General Assembly would then be able to redraw Virginia’s congressional districts. The General Assembly’s power to do so would continue until October 31, 2030, and the Virginia Redistricting Commission would reassume the responsibility of drawing the congressional districts in 2031.”
